This study investigates the adoption of Digital Human Resource Management (DHRM) systems in the maritime industry of the Riau Islands (Kepri), Indonesia. Through qualitative research involving interviews, observations, and literature reviews with HR leaders from marine tourism, fisheries, and port logistics, the study identifies eight key areas of DHRM adoption: Digital Recruitment, Digital Performance Management, Digital Training and Development, Digital Communication, Employee Data Management, Digital Employee Engagement, Digital Diversity and Inclusion, and Adoption of New Technology. The findings reveal significant opportunities for enhancing efficiency, improving objective performance tracking, and streamlining recruitment processes. However, challenges persist, including limited human resources, reliance on centralized decision-making, inadequate technological infrastructure, and a predominant focus on seagoing workforce development. These barriers impede the full implementation of DHRM. Despite these challenges, the research underscores DHRM’s potential to foster digital innovation and gain a competitive edge within the maritime sector. In conclusion, addressing these challenges through targeted strategies will be essential for maximizing the benefits of DHRM and advancing the digital transformation of human resource practices in the industry

Integrating sustainable practices in marine tourism has become increasingly essential in promoting environmental stewardship and long- term economic benefits. This study explores how social media, tourism facilities, and the blue economy collectively influence visits to Benan Island Village, Indonesia. By employing a structural equation model (SEM), the research examines both direct and indirect relationships between variables. Results indicate that social media and tourism facilities significantly affect tourist visits, both directly and indirectly, through the mediating role of the blue economy. The findings suggest that promoting sustainable tourism practices, aligned with blue economy principles, not only attracts more visitors but also enhances their experience, fostering repeat visits. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on digital marketing strategies for sustainable tourism, offering practical implications for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to balance economic growth with environmental preservation in marine destinations.

The Riau Islands (Kepri) province of Indonesia boasts an expansive ocean, covering 96% of its territory and fostering a rich heritage of knowledge and maritime culture among its citizens. Traditional fishing communities on Riau Island have thrived for generations, drawing on ancestral wisdom and local expertise. However, the swift rise of digitalization and modernization has triggered a transformative shift in their learning methods and adaptation strategies. This study focuses on: identifying methods of knowledge acquisition, investigating adaptive strategies, unveiling challenges, and exploring knowledge preservation techniques. Through in-depth interviews with more than two decades of experienced fishermen, qualitative data was gathered and meticulously analyzed using NVivo 12 software. The result found that traditional fishermen employ diverse strategies, integrating technology, continuous learning, and data-driven decision-making. They face challenges like limited internet access, cultural traditions, and safety concerns. Yet they preserve wisdom through oral traditions, apprenticeships, and modern tools, ensuring a vibrant fishing legacy. Their resilience highlights the urgent need for digital adaptation and intergenerational dialogue to shape sustainable and innovative fishing communities. Hence, this study recommend to develop sustainable training initiatives, establish community platforms, formulate policies to enhance digital accessibility, and encourage meaningful conversations across generations within traditional fishing communities.
