Biography

Ana Paula Montes (San José, 1978) is an architect and social urbanist. She has a PhD in Urban Planning from UNAM (2020), a master’s degree in urban planning from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain (2010), and a degree in Architecture from the University of Costa Rica (2003). She specializes in contemporary cultural geography, ecology, critical urbanism, and spatial feminism, with an emphasis on gender studies and digital media studies. She has an accumulated experience of 15 years, teaching and researching in universities in Costa Rica, Spain and Mexico. She is currently an assistant researcher at the Permanent Seminar on Visual Culture Studies at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and Adjunct Professor at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (TEC). She is a member of the Coalición por el Derecho al Cuidado Digno y el Tiempo Propio de las Mujeres de México.
