Biography
Since 2022, she has served as Coordinator of the Social Communication Team of the Independent Technical Advisory Group of Antônio Pereira, through the Guaicuy Institute. Since 2015, she has worked with communities affected by mining dams, focusing on community communication, human rights, and collective reparation. Since 2016, her research has focused on the socio-environmental impacts of predatory mining, especially in territories affected by large-scale projects, with publications in Observatório Lei.A, Instituto Guaicuy, and Projeto Manuelzão. She is the author of the book Uma nuvem se aproxima da janela (2022), which tells the story of a family from Bento Rodrigues after the Fundão Dam collapse in Mariana (MG). She co-coordinated the documentary “Quanto vale o que não tem preço?” (“How Much Is What Has No Price Worth?”), the first Brazilian film about people displaced from a Self-Rescue Zone (ZAS).
Education
Journalist, administrator, and researcher, Hariane Alves is a master’s student in Communication at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) and a postgraduate student in Human Rights, Social Responsibility, and Global Citizenship at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from UFOP, a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Faculty of Southern Bahia (FASB), and an MBA in Digital Marketing from the Metropolitan College of the State of São Paulo (FAMEESP).
