Biography
Prof. Hernan Huwyler is a globally recognized expert in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), specializing in the intersection of legal mandates and technological operations. He currently serves as the Academic Director for Compliance, Risk, and AI programs at IE Business School and IE Law School, where he was recognized with the 2025 Lifelong Learning Award for Best Professor. Concurrently, he is a Senior Manager at Capgemini Invent’s Applied AI Lab, leading enterprise-wide AI governance and risk modeling initiatives for multinational corporations. With over two decades of experience, Hernan has held senior leadership roles including Head of Risk Management & Internal Control at Milestone Systems (Canon Group) and key governance positions at Danske Bank, ISS World, and Deloitte. His work focuses on "operationalizing" regulation—transforming abstract legal requirements (such as the EU AI Act, ISO 42001, and GDPR) into quantifiable, auditable business controls.
