Biography

Jose was born in Asturias (Spain), in 1995. He grew up in Oviedo, where he studied B.Sc. in Chemistry (2017) and also M.Sc. in Organic and Inorganic Chemistry (2018) under the supervision of Prof. Félix Rodríguez and Prof. Francisco Javier Fañanás, both at the University of Oviedo. During the summer of 2017 he joined the research group of Prof. Rubén Martín at ICIQ as a "Summer Fellow". Then, he joined our group for carrying out his predoctoral studies. Over the summer of 2021 he carried out a predoctoral stay at the Scripps Research Institute (California, USA) under the supervision of Prof. Keary Engle, where he worked on Nickel-catalyzed carboamination reactions. He has successfully defended his PhD thesis in July 2023 at the University of Santiago de Compostela, under the supervision of Prof. José Luis Mascareñas and Prof. Moisés Gulías. In 2023 he was awarded with the RSEQ-Lilly Award to Best Ph.D. Students
