Main research interests are rigid and soft exoskeletons for assistance and rehabilitation, human biomechanics and dynamics, and human-robot interface and interactions.
Biography
Ricardo is a dynamic, creative, and hard-working research fellow at the Center for Microelectromechanical Systems at the University of Minho, in the project SmartOs - Smart, Active Lower Limb Orthotic System (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-039868) (http://birdlab.dei.uminho.pt/smartos/). He has a bachelor's and master's degree in biomedical engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, with a specialization in Biomechanics and Medical Instrumentation. He presented his master's thesis in November of 2022, entitled "Development of a Wearable Active Exoskeleton with Self-Aligning Mechanism", with a grade of 18. This work was done as a collaboration between Instituto Superior Técnico and the University of Minho.
