Then, in 2014, he moved to São Carlos-SP, Brazil, where he pursued his Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Antonio Carlos Bender Burtoloso at the Chemistry Institute of the University of São Paulo (São Carlos Campus). His Ph.D. work was based on the investigation of new methodologies involving diazo compounds and sulfur ylides. After completing his Ph.D., Alexander moved to Bogotá, where he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Diego Gamba Sánchez in the LSOBOC research group at the University of the Andes. After that, worked as an Assistant Professor at the Universidad de el Valle - Cali, Colombia. He is currently a full-time faculty member at Universidad Santiago de Cali, where his research focuses on the chemistry of arynes and highly strained cyclic systems.
