Dr. Siraj Bhatkar is a seasoned academician and researcher with a distinguished career in Petroleum Engineering and a demonstrated
commitment to advancing clean energy solutions. As an Assistant Professor at MIT since 2010, he has cultivated a strong foundation in
research, education, and leadership.
His research focus on renewable energy, hydrogen generation, carbon capture, sequestration, EOR and net zero emissions aligns directly
with the emphasis on clean technologies. Dr. Bhatkar's experience in managing and analyzing datasets from both the Oil and gas industry
and renewable energy sectors demonstrates his ability to apply data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making.
Furthermore, Dr. Bhatkar's role as a post-graduate guide to Ph.D. students showcases his mentorship and leadership abilities, essential
for fostering innovation and knowledge transfer. His strong connections with alumni and professional societies, coupled with his academic
achievements, position him as an

Hydrogen being produced commercially using steam reforming process where methane and steam has been intensely used to produce hydrogen and CO2. The necessity of sugarcane as a source is due to surplus production of sugar in the country. Bharat is importing 85 of the fuel from other countries. If hydrogen technology gets matured, cheaper hydrogen can be produced from sugarcane Rs. 2/kg which is surplus in the country The present proposal is focused on hydrogen production from sugar juice using bioprocess route and thermal route which is the novelty of the project. The prototype reactors for thermal and bioprocess are already available with MITWPU, VSI and IIT- BHU. The third-party evaluation of the technology will be done by Defiant Renewables Pvt. Ltd., Pune which is the kind contribution towards the project. The ultimate objective will be production of hydrogen at cheaper rate at 300 liter per day capacity using sugarcane juice. All sugar industries will be interested to take this
