The Influence of Helicobacter pylori Infection on Hepatic Enzymes, Inflammatory Markers, and Hematological Parameters in Patients with Gastritis Wasan A. Wahab Alsiadi, Malak A. Al-Yawer, Rana H. k. Al-Rubaye Asean Journal of Scientific and Technological Reports, 2026 Helicobacter pylori (HP) colonizes the gastric mucosa and causes gastric and extra-gastric disorders. Several liver diseases, such as Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, seem to be caused by the gastrointestinal tract, which is primarily determined by the presence of bacteria like Helicobacter pylori. The study aims to evaluate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and liver diseases by measuring liver enzymes, inflammatory markers, and hematological parameters among patients with gastritis and without Helicobacter pylori infection. A total of 1,325 patients who had gastritis diagnosed by gastroscopy were included in our study. They were divided into the HP– group (340 women, 323 men) and the HP+ group (330 women, 332 men). A control group (360 women, 260 men) without gastritis or HP infection was included in this study. HP was determined using the 13C urea breath test, which requires patients to swallow a capsule with water. Measurements of liver enzymes and complete blood cell counts were done in addition to interleukin-6(IL-6) and C-reactive protein (CRP). The results showed a significant increase in IL-6 and CRP in the HP+ group. Additionally, the mean levels of leukocytes and platelets were significantly increased in the HP+ group, but liver enzymes were within the normal range in both the HP+ & HP– groups. Although Helicobacter pylori causes elevation of indices of systemic inflammation, the liver did not show evidence of fatty infiltration, as liver enzymes were within normal limits.
Correlation with renin-angiotensin-aldosterone and glomerular filtration rate in chronic renal failure patients Fatimah Kadhim Ibrahim AL-Mahdawi, Mazin Razooqi Mohammed, Mustafa Gheni Taher, Wasan A.Wahab Alsiadi, Ammar Kadi, et al. Diyala Journal of Medicine, 2023 Background: One of the more significant hormonal systems, the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, controls the kidney function, adrenal gland through its effect on the balance of sodium and potassium, blood pressure, fluid volume, and also manages the functions of cardiovascular.
Objective: To clarify the interrelationship between renal dysfunction and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.
Patients and Methods: One hundred samples were collected from December 1, 2022, to February 18, 2023, from Al Shams Medical Laboratories (56 male, and 44) female, age range (of 45-60 years), all of them were volunteers suffering from chronic renal failure in the third stage the average glomerular filtration rate was 35. 70 ± 0.37 125 mL/min/1.73m2. and under conservative treatment. Kidney function test, active renin, angiotensin II, and aldosterone were assessed in the serum of all subjects. The p - value of differences less than 0.05 is measured significant, and uses the statistical package for the social sciences (23) software to calculate the correlation coefficient between various parameters.
Results: The result shows relationship between the changes in GFR with creatinine, urea and active renin, the mean GFR showed significant negative correlated with mean creatinine (R = -0.76, p < 0.01. As well as the mean GFR with mean urea (R = -0.64, p < 0.01). The mean GFR also showed significant negative correlated with mean active renin in (R = -0.41, p < 0.01). Also, the mean serum active renin level was significantly positive correlated with mean aldosterone (R =0.33, p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Renin enzyme is inversely related to renal dysfunction, so when the glomerular filtration rate decrease, the higher the renin increased, and as a result, the increase in blood pressure in chronic renal failure patients.
Diagnose COVID-19 by using hybrid CNN-RNN for chest X-ray Ban Jawad Khadhim, Qusay Kanaan Kadhim, Wafaa Khazaal Shams, Shaymaa Taha Ahmed, Wasan A.Wahab Alsiadi Indonesian Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2023 <p>Combating the COVID-19 epidemic has emerged as one of the most promising healthcare the world's challenges have ever seen. COVID-19 cases must be accurately and quickly diagnosed to receive proper medical treatment and limit the pandemic. Imaging approaches for chest radiography have been proven in order to be more successful in detecting coronavirus than the (RT-PCR) approach. Transfer knowledge is more suited to categorize patterns in medical pictures since the number of available medical images is limited. This paper illustrates a convolutional neural network (CNN) and recurrent neural network (RNN) hybrid architecture for the diagnosis of COVID-19 from chest X-rays. The deep transfer methods used were VGG19, DenseNet121, InceptionV3, and Inception-ResNetV2. RNN was used to classify data after extracting complicated characteristics from them using CNN. The VGG19-RNN design had the greatest accuracy of all of the networks with 97.8% accuracy. Gradient-weighted the class activation mapping (Grad-CAM) method was then used to show the decision-making areas of pictures that are distinctive to each class. In comparison to other current systems, the system produced promising findings, and it may be confirmed as additional samples become available in the future. For medical personnel, the examination revealed an excellent alternative way of diagnosing COVID-19.</p>
Thyroid carcinoma patients correlated with cytomegalovirus by using insitu hybridization N. A. Saeed, Ban Talib Elhaboby, Wasan A. Wahab Alsiadi Indian Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, 2021 Worldwide, the most common cancer-related deaths and poses one of the top ten most risk cancers globallyin many countries, is the thyroid carcinoma. In human cancers, there are important factor associated withit . The viral agent is one of them which is involved in the spread of tumors, including thyroid cancers. So,the present study was designed to determine the relationship between Cytomegalovirus infection with someIraqi patients who suffer from the thyroid carcinoma in tissue cancer from different site (papillary, follicularand lymph node) by using In Situ Hybridization Technique, related to their age, gender, site distribution, histological grade and the tumor stage. The sixty biopsies were randomly collected during the period betweenJune 2017 until October 2018,CMV was detected in(28.3%)(17 out of 60 patients, the mean age was 39years old, ranged between ( 27-72) years old, female to male ratio was (1.3 : 1) with 34 women and 26 men.The most of these cases were papillary carcinoma 39, followed by follicular 13 and the rest 8 cases were atthe lymph node. Histological grades that involved were 37 well differentiated, 18 were poorly differentiated, and 5 were moderately differentiated. Tumor staging included 43 patients who fall in stage I and II, whilethe rest 17 patients fall in stage III and IV. Regarding to the positive results, CMV correlates in a highlysignificant association with each of (age, gender, grading, tumor stage, and site distribution at p<0.01).It could be concluded from that the in situ hybridization is useful in the clinical evaluation of patients withthyroid carcinoma. And suggested that the viral agent cytomegalovirus is involved in thyroid carcinogenesisand may play an important role in the malignant transformation of thyroid cancer.
