Integrating AI generated comics into higher education in Taiwan to examine technology acceptance digital divide and learning satisfaction Tin-Kai Chen, Hsiao-Lin Fang, Chih-Feng Chien, Yu-Chen Chen, Andry Chowanda Discover Education, 2026 This study examines how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools, particularly ChatGPT (OpenAI), support student engagement, technology acceptance, and learning satisfaction in a creative higher education context. Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and digital divide theory, the study investigates how individual attitudes toward AI and perceived access conditions jointly shape learning experiences in an AI-supported comic creation course. A total of 30 undergraduate students from art and non-art disciplines participated in a structured comic creation task involving AI-assisted narration, layout design, and image generation. Survey data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing, and regression-based mediation and moderation analyses. The results indicate moderate levels of technology acceptance, perceived digital access, and learning satisfaction. Technology acceptance emerged as a strong predictor of satisfaction, while perceived digital access also contributed significantly to positive learning experiences. Moreover, perceptions of digital access partially mediated the relationship between technology acceptance and satisfaction. Academic background did not significantly moderate these relationships, suggesting cross-disciplinary applicability of AI-supported creative instruction. By integrating technology adoption and equity perspectives, this study contributes to a more nuanced understanding of student satisfaction in AI-enhanced creative education. The findings highlight the importance of aligning perceived usefulness and ease of use with equitable access conditions when designing AI-supported curricula. Implications are discussed for inclusive course design, creative pedagogy, and institutional strategies for the responsible integration of GenAI in higher education.
Dataset of authorship attribution from short-text multi topic representative in Bahasa Indonesia Yohan Muliono, Ford Lumban Gaol, Andry Chowanda, Widodo Budiharto Data in Brief, 2026 Authorship attribution plays an important role in various applications, including digital forensics, Yauthorship verification, and the analysis of online textual content. While extensive benchmark datasets are available for high-resource languages such as English, publicly accessible datasets for authorship attribution in the Indonesian language remain limited. This limitation restricts systematic experimentation and comparative evaluation across different authorship attribution approaches in bahasa Indonesia. To address this gap, this data article introduces an Indonesian authorship attribution dataset consisting of short-text documents collected from social media. Short-text data were obtained from Twitter using the official Academic API, The dataset covers three topical categories politic, financial, and mix and includes anonymized author labels to preserve authorship consistency without revealing personal identities. In addition to the original text, the dataset provides explicit stylometric attributes, including word count and character count for each document, which are commonly used features in authorship attribution research. All data are consolidated into a single machine-readable CSV file to facilitate reuse, reproducibility, and further development of authorship attribution methods for the Indonesian language.
Indonesian pharmaceutical dataset for self-medication Richard Wiputra, Carrie Florista Benjaminsz, Andrian Loria, Rafaell Widjaya, Rudy, Andry Chowanda Data in Brief, 2026 The Indonesian Pharmaceutical Dataset for Self-medication consists of two structured datasets containing some of the most important public health information: a drug dataset and a disease dataset. Both were extracted from the websites of Indonesian-registered and regulated telemedicine providers. The drug dataset contains general data on drugs, indications, dosages, side effects, contraindications, and warnings, whereas the disease dataset contains definitions, descriptions, symptoms, and causes of diseases. Both datasets are provided in CSV file format and are available exclusively in Bahasa Indonesia to maintain consistency with the source content and cater to local users' needs. These datasets are available to facilitate research, application development, and Indonesian health information systems through locally contextualized and accessible health data for the Indonesian population to use. Some potential applications include powering health chatbots, arming medical search tools, guiding health literacy programs, and facilitating the integration of standardized local information into HealthTech platforms.
Heart Rate and Skill-Based AI Director for Adaptive Difficulty in Procedurally Generated Roguelike Games Audrey Levina, Andry Chowanda International Journal on Informatics Visualization, 2026 Challenge is an important component in games, whose role is to engage the players and ensure their enjoyment during gameplay. One game genre that emphasizes challenge is the roguelike genre. Although the chosen genre is known for its great difficulty, the game's difficulty must be balanced to maintain player interest. To solve this problem, an adaptive system called AI Director is proposed. The system adjusts game components in real time to enhance the player’s experience. The proposed system monitors the player’s heart rate to predict the player’s emotions. Heart rate was chosen because it is a good indicator of the player’s current state. The director also evaluates the player’s skills through their performance on each level. Based on the result, the AI director decides whether to increase or decrease the difficulty. The AI director adjusts the game's components through procedural content generation (PCG). This includes enemy spawn rates and the number of rooms per level. To evaluate the AI director’s effectiveness, sixteen players were invited to test the game. The players are divided into 2 groups of 8 people. One group played the dynamic version with the proposed AI director, while the other group played the static version. After finishing the game, each player filled out the Game Experience Questionnaire (GEQ). Results show that the AI director enhanced the game’s tension, flow, immersion, and overall experience.
The Impact of Artificial Empathy in Using ChatGPT on User's Feeling Heard Kezia Angelica, Esther Widhi Andangsari, Andry Chowanda 2026 International Conference on Cognitive Systems and Computer Interaction Icosci 2026 Proceedings, 2026 ChatGPT with artificial empathy has the potential to enhance feelings of being heard and reduce loneliness, yet research on this relationship remains limited, especially in Indonesia. This research consists of two studies; the first study used word frequency analysis to explore linguistic expressions of loneliness and empathy, and its findings were used as the basis to create empathetic prompts for the second study. The second study was a between-subjects experiment comparing the feeling heard experience between an experimental group that interacted with ChatGPT using empathy-driven prompts and a control group that completed the Feeling Heard Scale based on previous interactions with ChatGPT without any manipulation. Data were analyzed using word frequency analysis in the first study and independent samples t-test in the second study. Findings showed that although the difference in feeling heard between groups was not statistically significant (t(209)=0.756, p=0.225), chatbot interactions regardless of empathy manipulation still elicited a sense of being heard. These results highlight the potential of chatbots as emotional support systems and the importance of ethical regulation to ensure their safe and responsible use.
Smart Shopping Trolley Using RFID Technology: An Iot-Based Approach for Enhancing Retail Checkout Efficiency Mohamed Imran Mohamed Ariff, Nur Munirah Nazam, Noreen Izza Arshad, Andry Chowanda 7th International Conference on Mobile Computing and Sustainable Informatics Icmcsi 2026, 2026 This paper presents the design and evaluation of a cost-effective, scalable, and fully automated Smart Shopping Trolley that integrates Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, load-cell weight sensors, and a mobile application into a unified system. Conventional shopping faces persistent inefficiencies, including barcode dependency, long queues, and limited real-time tracking. The proposed system employs an ESP32 microcontroller to coordinate RFID-based item recognition, weight mismatch detection, and Firebase-enabled mobile synchronization, while enabling seamless digital payments. Functionality testing confirmed over 95 % accuracy in RFID scanning and weight verification, with checkout time reduced from <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{4}-\mathbf{6}$</tex> minutes to under 1 minute. Usability testing indicated strong shopper and administrator satisfaction, supported by intuitive interfaces and reliable performance. Findings are consistent with prior studies highlighting RFID-IoT integration and sensor-enabled retail automation, demonstrating that the Smart Shopping Trolley offers a practical, user-friendly, and scalable solution for nextgeneration retail environments.
Hyperparameter tuning for deep learning model used in multimodal emotion recognition data Fernandi Widardo, Andry Chowanda Bulletin of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, 2025 This study attempts to address overfitting, a frequent problem with multimodal emotion identification models. This study proposes model optimization using various hyperparameter approaches, such as dropout layer, l2 kernel regularization, batch normalization, and learning rate schedule, and discovers which approach yields the most impact for optimizing the model from overfitting. For the emotion dataset, this research utilizes the interactive emotional dyadic motion capture (IEMOCAP) dataset and uses the motion capture and speech audio data modality. The models used in this experiment are convolutional neural network (CNN) for the motion capture data and CNN-bidirectional long short-term memory (CNN-BiLSTM) for the audio data. This study also applied a smaller model batch size in the experiment to accommodate the limited computing resources. The result of the experiment is that the optimization using hyperparameter tuning raises the validation accuracy to 73.67% and the f1-score to 73% on audio and motion capture data, respectively, from the base model of this research and can competitively compete with another research model result. It is hoped that the optimization experiment results in this study can be useful for future emotion recognition research, especially for those who have encountered overfitting problems.
