  • Real-Time Traffic and Public Transport Monitoring System for Dense Urban Areas: An Android-Based Solution

    Traffic congestion in Bogor City has led to significant fuel waste and severely impeded the flow of vehicles in this densely populated urban area.To solve this issue and help individuals plan their travels more effectively, creative solutions that offer real-time traffic information are needed.The goal of this research is to create an Android-based traffic monitoring information system that makes it easier to access data on traffic conditions.The waterfall approach utilizes the React Native Maps package for digital map creation and the React Native framework for Android application development.The Android-based information system technology then serves as a useful traffic monitoring tool.Digital maps connected with CCTV and Google Traffic enable the visualization of current traffic conditions, allowing individuals to readily determine the traffic situation, including information on public transportation routes.Test findings utilizing the black-box method reveal that the system works well on Android devices running 7.0 Nougat or higher.The system's key functions, such as real-time traffic monitoring, public transit route information, and the locations of traffic service facilities, were successfully deployed as designed.Even with basic data from CCTV connection, the Waterfall-based Android Traffic Information System has the advantage of being easy to use and flexible enough to adjust to local demands.Although 78% of respondents were satisfied with the system, 22% of users reported delayed system access during peak hours.Alternative routes from SIJAB using Google Maps or Waze led to a reduction in the average time taken to travel by 12.5%, and in some cases, up to 30% compared to traditional paths during peak hours.

  • Characteristics and Ash-Related Problem Prediction of Refused Derived Fuel from River Waste

    Environmental pollution, especially in rivers, increases every year, especially due to waste being dumped directly into rivers. Municipal solid waste can be processed into refused derived fuel to be used as a coal fuel mixture in CFPP. This research aims to analyse the risk of burning RDF originating from river waste as a single fuel and RDF as a mixed fuel for coal up to 30%. Solid fuel standard tests were used to determine sample characteristics and properties. To determine the initial risk of the ash deposition problem of RDF from river waste (RDF-R), the theoretical prediction indices are used. As a single fuel, RDF-R exhibits a high risk of slagging due to its high composition of Fe2O3 and CaO in the ash. Adding RDF-R to coal leads to increase of the slagging and fouling risk. However, addition up to 30% RDF-R to coal has insignificant effect in corrosion because the sulfur content in the coal can reduce the corrosive effects of chlorine.
  • Systematic Mapping Study: Research Opportunities on Capacity Planning

    The central idea of the research is to improve the efficiency and sustainability of data centers by implementing accurate capacity planning, which will also improve their performance and availability. Various literature reviews have been conducted to understand the current status of capacity planning implementation in different domains and perspectives. However, a more organized and systematic approach is required to map research and implementation results in the relevant areas of capacity planning that have the potential for further development. The present study aims to fill this gap by conducting a systematic mapping study that combines both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The quantitative approach involved the collection of literature and the classification of topics using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method. On the contrary, the qualitative approach used content analysis to identify future research directions based on keyword trends and topics. The PRISMA framework was followed to guide the search for relevant studies in electronic research literature databases. The mapping results revealed 15 topics, with topics 8, 10, 11, and 15 showing significant potential for further research and exhibiting increasing trends. The identified topics encompass capacity planning, energy and resource management, computing and technology, data analysis and statistics, engineering, and industry, all crucial for businesses and industries to operate efficiently and sustainably. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the state of capacity planning implementation and highlights areas that require further investigation.
  • Prototyping an IoT-Platform Embedded Device to Prevent the Failure of the Battery System at the Kedungbadak-Bogor Substation

    To increase the efficiency of the time used when measuring the voltage value on the battery system and each battery cell, it is necessary to maintain the condition of the battery so that it can work optimally through the build and installation of an embedded system prototype based on the Internet of Things (IoT) platform for preventing the failure on the battery system at the Substation of Kedungbadak-Bogor in a real-time condition.There are two subjects in this article are related to the research objectives, namely i) device manufacturing and programming and ii) device prototype performance measurement.The research implementation algorithm as a form of the research method was chosen.The formation of the subsystem is carried out through integrated wiring between electronic devices, in order to obtain the hardware handshaking process and conditions, whereas the subsystem programming is done through making algorithms and compiling syntax, in order to obtain handshaking by software.The performance of the subsystem is measurable when integrated into the smartphone via the Blynk IoT application, in order to obtain hardware and software handshaking processes.The performance of the device prototype when monitoring the voltage in the form of information about the measured voltage value of each battery cell, namely the voltage value displayed on the 'client system', 'server system', and 'smart-phone', while the battery cell voltage drop alarm is in the form of notifications on smart-phones and emails containing notifications voltage drop in one of the battery cells.Fabricating the embedded device prototype can provide measurement efficiency and early detection of anomalies in battery cells.
  • PDE-Based Mathematical Models to Diagnose the Temperature Changes Phenomena on the Single Rectangular Plate-Fin

    The ideas of the studies in this article are back-grounded by the work diligently and carefully to relate the influence of two independent variables, e.g., distance and time on one dependent variable, i.e., temperature changes which are solved by a partial differential equation.In this article, we explain the particular features of a naturally physical system that it seeks to understand.The diagnosis of the temperature changes in a metal rod to consider a conduction phenomenon can be covered by all-natural physical phenomena through conduction.By making the mathematical equations based on partial differential equations (PDEs), it is shown that the temperature change is influenced by distance and time.The objectives of this study are (i) to make a prototype of the problem based on the one-dimensional heat conduction equation, (ii) to process the solution of the mathematical equation based on the parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) using the separation of variables, and (iii) to display the phenomena of the temperature changes as a function of the length in the copper bar and the time.Achieving the research objectives takes several stages in the research methods which include (a) making the prototype of the problem, (b) processing the solution of a mathematical equation, and (c) displaying the temperature changes phenomenon in the form of a curve.The results are (i) a mass balance is developed for a finite segment ∆ along the tank's longitudinal axis in order to derive a differential equation, (ii) the final complete solution in the form of a Fourier sine series, and (iii) a three-dimensional curve as an indication of the existence of the phenomenon of temperature changes.In general, it can be concluded that the making of a mathematical model based on partial differential equations with the method of separating variables as an analytical solution can be used to diagnose the phenomenon of temperature changes as a function of distance and time.
  • Designing a Model of the Early Warning System on the Road Curvature to Prevent the Traffic Accidents

    Road traffic safety in developing countries is a complex problem involving many factors such as humans, vehicles, structures, and the roads' environments. This study focuses on reducing traffic accidents for passenger busses, aiming to identify the causes and create a simple computer model to warn in areas like EWS using geometric road data. The survey was conducted at accident-prone locations and simulated the travel speed, road geometric, and traffic composition data. Results can be concluded that the rate is largely influenced by the radius of curvature, visibility, road gradient, and weather conditions. The concept of the EWS computer model was developed using web-based technology that can use to record the data instantly. The model had tested in another location to validate the field parameter and geometric road improvement.
  • Analytical and Numerical Simulations to Observe the Seawater Cooling Phenomena Through a Single Rectangular Plate-Fin

    This paper describes several simulations of the seawater cooling phenomenon using a theoretical approach based on analytical method, numerical method of Euler’s and Runge-Kutta of fourth-order (RK4). These research objectives, i.e. to get the energy balance equations, to use the solution equations, and to do the simulation processes. The methods used, i.e. (i) do the completion of mathematical equations to get the constants for energy balance based on the ordinary differential equations (ODEs), (ii) do the made of solving equations for simulation, and (iii) does the simulation processes assisted by a spreadsheet application and result in analysis. The results are in the form of (a) the constants for energy balance, i.e. b1 is 0.9134∙10-3 sec-1 and b2 is 0.31∙10-6 sec-1, (b) produced three solving equations for the simulation, and (c) obtained curves of the temperature changes. The results of the simulation processes based on a spreadsheet application have obtained the results, that the time span 1800 seconds (30 minutes) can cause changes in the temperature of the fluid from 25℃ to (i) 4.823770℃ with a rate of change of 0.092%, if used of the analytical method; (ii) 4.819088℃ with a rate of change of 0.092%, if used the numerical method of Euler’s; and (iii) 5.600404℃ with a rate of change of 0.083%, if used the numerical method of RK4’s. The conclusion in this paper, that all the curves of changes in the temperature of the fluid are the non-linear curves. Even though the final value of temperature is the highest, but the RK4 more thoroughly. Suggestions for future work, that the simulation of its phenomena must be begun with making the mathematical models with the analytical and/or numerical method and implemented them into the computer application.
  • Monitoring and Control of the Voltage on a Three-phase Electrical Network by Smartphone

    This paper describes the creation of a minimum system for monitoring and controlling the voltage on a three-phase electrical network. Making a minimum system based on the result of previous research that has been implemented in the forms of device assembly, programming, and performance measurement. The research objectives are (i) assembling the hardware and programming based on Arduino software version 1.8.10 and (ii) measuring the minimum system performance. The research method for achieving the objective of assembling a minimum system is carried out through integrated wiring as an effort to get the hardware achievement, while for programming is an effort to get the software achievement. The implementation of the research method for measuring the performance as an effort to get the achievements of hardware and software is carried out by giving the orders to activate the paths of each phase. The result of the assembly is the integration of the Arduino UNO R3 module, Ethernet Shield type of W5100, MikroTik RouterBoard, relay modules, and Android smartphone, while the results of the programming are compiling and uploading the syntax to the Arduino module and making applications in the .apk format for a smartphone. Performance measurements are carried out by activating conditions for the three phases of phase-R, phase-S, and/or phase-T. The conclusion can be obtained, that the manufacture of a minimum system is appropriate for the fulfillment with respect to the presence of an electronic device for monitoring and controlling the voltage on a three-phase electrical network.
  • Observing the Performance of Interface Device for Communicating Based on a Half-Duplex System by Giving a Realistic Condition

    This article explains about a stage after the stage of the verification test, there is a phase of a form of prior activity to the final stage, i.e., the hot commissioning phase. Hot commissioning is a stage for providing a realistic condition or validation test activity. Based on the follow-up activity which is the reason for choosing the title, therefore the two research objectives in this article are set. The first objective is to create conditions for the system when the end user controls through the radio-based electronic device, whereas the second objective is to create conditions for the system when the end user controls through the telephony-based electronic device. The steps of research methods for achieving the research objectives are carried out through (i) calling activities, (ii) connecting process, and (iii) disconnecting activities after obtaining a connection to communicate from a radio-based device (using the handy talky, HT) and from the telephony-based device (used the mobile phone). The two results based on research objectives have been obtained after observation regarding activities of calling activity, making telephone calls, and termination activity after connecting from radio-based and telephony-based devices. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the half duplex-based interface device for communicating (IDC) functioned after the realistic conditions is given.
