  • First Stage Evaluation of ISSuFiRs: Partners’ Financial Report Monitoring System by Islamic Financial Cooperatives (BMT) in Indonesia
Andri Martiana, Ani Yunita, Sobar M. Jauhari, Salina Kassim, and Wing-Keung Wong

    EDP Sciences
Most MSMEs, especially micro-enterprises, do not have good business accounting records, making it difficult for owners/managers to measure the profitability of their companies. Internal control management has a significant influence in reducing fraud in Micro Enterprises. The more principles-based accounting rules, the shorter the delay in annual reporting disclosures. It is important to have a good financial reporting system that can be utilized by Micro Enterprises and its cooperation partners who provide and distribute funds. ISSuFiRs is a web-based application that enables Islamic Financial Cooperatives to track the business progress of their financing partners. With this application, micro businesses can disclose their business activities in these financial records in accordance with the SAK-ETAP national accounting standards. Reporting on this system includes balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, sources, use of ZIS funds, and comments on financial reports. This study presents a prototyping framework that enables user value perception, evaluation, and continuous improvement of ISSuFiR design quality through co-creation methods. It is hoped that a simple and effective financial reporting system, ISSuFiRs, will be useful for Micro Enterprises and Islamic Financial Cooperatives to monitor business developments. This study proposes a prototyping framework that enables the user's perception of value. The framework is expected to be implemented in industrial product service systems, evaluated and then concluded. This research is ongoing, with a new prototype being rebuilt based on the evaluation results.

  • Spatial analysis of the urban physical vulnerability using remote sensing and geographic information systems (case study: Yogyakarta City)
    N Arif, A Wardhana, and A Martiana

    IOP Publishing
Abstract Vulnerability mapping in urban planning is very important to reduce damage caused and loss of life due to disasters. This paper discussed the mapping of urban physical vulnerability using remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS) approaches. Physical vulnerability parameters used were building density, distribution of public facilities, slope, and land use. Landsat 8 OLI satellite imagery used remote sensing data to obtain building density information using the Normalised Difference Built Index (NDBI) and land use interpretation approaches. With the use of GIS, the spatial distribution of urban vulnerabilities could be known through the overlay of each indicator. The results of the analysis obtained that the physical vulnerability classes of Yogyakarta City were very high (26%), high (29%), moderate (29%), low (16%), and very low (0%). Some areas categorized as vulnerable to very vulnerable are areas with high building density, namely the Sub-districts of Danurejan, Kraton, Gedongtengen, Jetis, Ngampilan, Pakualaman, Mantrijeron, parts of Gondomanan and Tegalrejo.

  • Islamic Microfinance and Poverty Alleviation in Indonesia: A Systematic Review of the Evidence
    Andri Martiana and Mukhlis Rahmanto

Islamic Research Institute, International Islamic University, Islamabad
Many scholars have discussed how Islamic microfinance works to eradicate poverty. However, detailed studies reviewing the literature related to this topic in Indonesia are lacking. Using a systematic method to review, analyze, and synthesize the literature, this study highlights how IMFIs play their role in alleviating poverty in Indonesia. Seven databases of Emerald Management, Science Direct, Google Scholar (English keywords), Google Scholar (Indonesian keywords), Proquest, Scopus, and Academic Search Complete were used to gather articles published from early January 2016 to the end of 2020. From the data collected, it is found that the number of published articles with the theme “Islamic Microfinance Institutions and poverty alleviation” decreased beginning in 2019, with most of the research consisting of case studies in West Java using qualitative research methods. The impact felt by the community through the implementation of these programmes includes increasing societal welfare and reducing the number of poor micro and small entrepreneurs. This perceived influence has economic, social, and spiritual benefits that can help Indonesia’s economic and social growth. This review is expected to contribute to the evidence supporting poverty alleviation through Islamic microfinance in Indonesia. This becomes important in determining the direction of development and improvement of policies related to the problem.
