  • FRMM-LSTM multimodal fusion based caption recurrent network for vision analysis
Harapriya Kar, P. Viswanathan, Bajra Panjar Mishra, K. S. Kuppusamy
Intelligent Computing Techniques and Applications, 2025
People with visual impairments worldwide often face challenges in accessing information about different environments. Captions based on scene content, along with image descriptions, have been found to help address these difficulties. Combining natural language processing with computer vision plays a vital role in improving scene understanding. However, without proper captions, image descriptions can become inconsistent. To address this issue, this paper introduces a multiregional fusion-based FRMM-LSTM neural system that generates descriptive scene captions. The fully connected recurrent multimodal long short-term memory (LSTM) gates learn from each modality present in the image. The model operates in two distinct phases, one for image input and the other for language, followed by a shared fusion phase to learn the relationship between the two multimodal features. A fully connected LSTM layer processes the language component, while the fusion stages in FRMM are used for training. The language features are then mapped onto a shared vector space, pre-trained using FRMM and LSTM, to produce coherent captions. Additionally, Caption Crawler technology uses reverse image search to find captions from the Web and global repositories, making them accessible to users with screen readers. The interface for the fused model is implemented using the flask framework, a Python-based web development tool. This work aims primarily to assist visually impaired individuals by offering a region-specific approach to image captioning.
  • An SRR metamaterial for focusing enhancement of W-band lens antenna for microwave imaging
Debapriya Nilakantha Padhy, Bajra Panjar Mishra, Sudhakar Sahu, Sakambari Mishra, Subhranshu Kumar Singh, Sudhanshu Bhusan Kar
Intelligent Computing Techniques and Applications, 2025
This paper introduces a hybrid split ring resonator (SRR)-based periodic metamaterial structure developed for a W-band lens antenna, designed to detect electromagnetic radiation emitted by plasma or any cancerous cell. This detection enables localized analysis of the electron temperature from the radiation source. Here the metamaterial is tailored to operate within the W-band spectrum (70–110 GHz). The unit cell in the metamaterial structure is engineered for low loss, minimal dispersion, broad bandwidth, and high gain, optimizing lens performance. The structure’s design, simulation, and optimization were conducted using ANSYS HFSS software. A composite metamaterial (CMM) was selected for the unit cell, achieving a near-zero refractive index to construct a low-loss, broadband, high-gain NZMTM (near-zero refractive index metamaterial) lens antenna that significantly enhances focusing. The lens aperture dimensions are 1100 µm × 550 µm × 250 µm.

2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference Indicon 2017, 2018
In this communication, a complementary split resonator (CSR) based periodic meta material structure is proposed for design of W-band (70–110 GHz) lens antenna, suitable for radar application. By detecting the directivity of electromagnetic radiation from a W-band Yagi antenna when passed through the metamaterial structure, it has been found that, the integration is suitable for long distance transmission. The metamaterial structure as lens has been designed, simulated and optimized by commercially available ANSYS HFSS Software. The unit cell structure is realized for its near zero metamaterial (NZMTM) properties such as refractive index, Permeability, Permittivity in order to design low loss, broadband and high gain lens antenna to increase the focusing effect.

11th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommunications Systems Ants 2017, 2018
In this paper, a planar cycloid dipole shaped periodic metamaterial lens structure is proposed to reduce the cross polarization level of an EH horn antenna operating in W-band (70–110 GHz) by −27 dB. The unit cell of the proposed metamaterial structure is chosen in such a way that, it offer low loss and dispersion suitable for satellite communication and millimetre wave radar research. The structure realizes the near zero values of Permeability (μ), Permittivity (ε) and Refractive Index (η). We adopt NRW method to retrieve the medium parameters. We used commercially available ANSYS HFSS Software for design, simulation and optimization of the proposed metamaterial structure.
  • A low loss square strip ring resonator for upper Ku-band lens antenna design
    Bajra Panjar Mishra, Sudhakar Sahu
Applied Electromagnetics Conference Aemc 2017, 2017
In this communication, a square strip ring resonator (SSRR) based periodic metamaterial structure is addressed to improve the gain of a horn antenna operating in 16–20 GHz (upper Ku band) by 6 dB. The unit cell of the periodic metamaterial structure is chosen in such a way that, it offers low loss and dispersion for the lens structure and to realize the near zero values Permeability (μ), Permittivity (ε) and Refractive Index (η). The metamaterial structure as the lens has been designed, simulated and optimized by commercially available ANSYS HFSS Software.
  • An investigation on cross-shaped fishnet metamaterial for W-band radar application
BajraPanjar Mishra, Sudhakar Sahu, Surya K. Pathak, S.K.S. Parashar
2017 IEEE Calcutta Conference Calcon 2017 Proceedings, 2017
In this communication, we investigate on the performance of across-shaped fishnet metamaterial operating at W-band (70–110 GHz). An NRW characterization methodis employed to extract the DNG character of the proposed fishnet structure. An array of 15×15 such unit cells constitutes a layer is considered as a metasurface and 5 such fishnet metasurfaces when combined with a W-band horn in order to develop a lens antenna, suitable for radar application. The gain of the electromagnetic radiation from the W-band Lens antenna has been improved by 5–6 dB, and cross polarization level is found below −20 dB, which is suitable for low loss long distance transmission. The metamaterial structure as lens has been designed, simulated and optimized by commercially available ANSYS HFSS Software.
