Stability Analysis of Heffron-Phillips SMIB Model with Integrated Power System Stabilizer and Effect of Time Delay Gaurav Jain, Divakant Garg, Vishal Rohela, Bhuvnesh Rathor India International Conference on Power Electronics Iicpe, 2023 The Heffron-Phillips Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) model, integrated with a power system stabilizer (PSS), offers a comprehensive depiction of a synchronous generator linked to an infinite bus within a power network. This model adeptly captures the interplay of mechanical and electrical aspects of the generator, along with the impact of a power system stabilizer on overall stability. The PSS acts as a control mechanism to attenuate oscillations and enhance dynamic stability. The synchronous generator's traits, including inertia, damping, and electrical characteristics, are represented in the Heffron-Phillips SMIB model. The turbine governor and excitation systems symbolize the mechanical and electrical components, respectively. These elements interact internally and with the external power system through voltage and mechanical power. Incorporating time delay in the power system stabilizer adds complexity, stemming from communication and processing delays. Modeling a delayed PSS within the Heffron-Phillips framework demands scrutiny of its impact on system dynamics. Time delays can influence control system stability and performance, necessitating careful analysis and tuning.
Robust Control Technique for Three Machine Nine Bus System Yogendra Saini, Aashiq Hussain, Ravi Kumar Hada, Gaurav Jain, Bhuvnesh Rathor 2023 5th International Conference on Electrical Computer and Communication Technologies Icecct 2023, 2023 Understanding and analyzing power system stability behavior under various conditions is the goal of power system stability analysis. The PSS is utilized by generators to address stability issues. To distinguish PSS execution under the transient inadequacy condition, a transient stability examination is carried out. This paper manages power system stabilizers to enhance the system's dynamic stability. Reenactment programming, such as MATLAB, licenses such evaluation on test structures, such as the 3 machine 9 Bus systems, which are intended to calculate various apparatuses of system under various conditions, despite the fact that such an examination cannot be carried out in the field. Various PSS have been used in the past to tune PSS frequency. In addition to comparing the obtained results to those of other PSS, we tuned the repeat of PSS using frequency response strategy that makes use of the system's frequency under transient conditions. The simpowersystem MATLAB tool kit was used to plan and analyze transient stability for the System with PSS.
A Double-Ended Scheme for Fault Identification and Phase-Type Categorization in Fixed Series Compensated Transmission Line during Distorted Signals Gaurav Kapoor, Pankaj Gakhar, Pankaj Verma, Pravin Sonwane, Bhuvnesh Rathore 2021 6th IEEE International Conference on Recent Advances and Innovations in Engineering Icraie 2021, 2022 A quick, double-sided, and hybrid protection system for identification and phase-type categorization of fault generated noisy signals on a 500 kV, 300 km long transmission line (TL) is introduced in this paper. The proposed scheme takes advantage of Fourier analysis and haar wavelet analysis and makes use of currents at equally relaying sides of a TL. Haar wavelet is used in the wavelet analysis of current signals. The simulation effects attained show that the scheme is quick and flawless as the phase-type is classified within 15 ms time.
Robust Control Techniques for Four-Area System with DFIG System Bhuvnesh Rathor, Anamika Kumari, Ajit Singh Rajawat, Vishvendra Singh Punia, Gaurav Jain, et al. 2021 6th IEEE International Conference on Recent Advances and Innovations in Engineering Icraie 2021, 2022 Distributed power generation based on solar power, wind energy will give critical energy in future. There has been an important progress in grid Technology to use the local energy sources and furthermore to reduce the transmission losses and increase the power sharing capability. This work considers the effect of disturbance and fault in four area system connected to DFIG. The controlling of four area system connected to DFIG is performed. The different PSSs are utilized in primary control action. The comparison in time domain response having without any controller mean without PSS, with simple or conventional PSSs (Delta Omega (ω) and Delta Pa (acceleration power)), MB (Multi-Band) PSS and Fuzzy Logic (FL) based PSSs. Using a test DFIG model, the performance of fuzzy controller (FL) power system stability is accessed via time domain simulation of the test DFIG model on MATLAB/Simulink (R2015a) environment.
A Novel k-Means Clustering and Weighted k-NN-Regression-Based Fast Transmission Line Protection Amit Kumar Gangwar, Om Prakash Mahela, Bhuvnesh Rathore, Baseem Khan, Hassan Haes Alhelou, et al. IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2021 This article presents a <inline-formula><tex-math notation="LaTeX">$k$</tex-math></inline-formula>-means clustering and weighted <inline-formula><tex-math notation="LaTeX">$k$</tex-math></inline-formula>-nearest neighbor (<inline-formula><tex-math notation="LaTeX">$k$</tex-math></inline-formula>-NN) regression-based algorithm for the protection of transmission line. Three-phase current signals of both the terminals are synchronized and sampled with a sampling frequency of 3.84 kHz. Cumulative differential sum (CDS) is computed by subtracting the samples of current cycle from the previous cycle at both the terminals of transmission line. <inline-formula><tex-math notation="LaTeX">$k$</tex-math></inline-formula>-means clustering is applied on CDS to compute two centroids using moving window of width, equal to one cycle. Difference between the absolute values of centroids is computed at both the terminals and represented by the centroid difference (CD). The CD of both the terminals is added to compute the fault index. The computed fault index is used to detect and classify the types of faults. The location of the fault is estimated by the weighted <inline-formula><tex-math notation="LaTeX">$k$</tex-math></inline-formula>-NN regression method. Various case studies are performed to validate the robustness of the algorithm for different fault parameters such as fault impedance and fault location. The effect of noise is also considered to check the accuracy of the proposed algorithm in the noisy environment.
