Ciencia E Saude Coletiva, 2026 This article aims to systematically mapping the scientific production related to the usability and applicability of the LACE score as a predictive tool for early hospital readmission and mortality. This is a scoping review guided by the guidelines proposed by JBI, covering eight databases and grey literature. Twenty-eight publications were included, mostly involving foreign populations, spanning from 2011 to 2023. There was a higher prevalence of retrospective cohort studies, with a level of evidence 3, according to the criteria of the Oxford Center for Evidence-based Medicine. The LACE score was predominantly used as a predictor of readmission and mortality, especially in medical clinic patients. It is concluded that there is a significant gap in This article aims to produce a systematic mapping of scientific production on the usability and applicability of the LACE Index as a tool for predicting early hospital readmission and mortality. This scoping review, framed by JBI guidelines, covered eight databases and the grey literature. Of the twenty-eight publications reviewed, most addressed foreign populations and were published 2011 to 2023. Most were retrospective cohort studies with level of evidence 3by the criteria of the Oxford Center for Evidence-Based Medicine. LACE scoring was used predominantly as a predictor of readmission and mortality, especially of medical patients. There is a significant gap in the literature due to the predominance of retrospective studies and the absence of prospective studies with a high level of evidence, in addition to isolated use of LACE as a tool to predict mortality.
PERCEPTIONS OF FAMILY MEMBERS OF ADULT INDIVIDUALS REGARDING PRE-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY CARE: A THEMATIC ANALYSIS Gabriel Guembarski Flavio, Mateus Souza da Luz, Ana Paula dos Santos Serrano, Andréia Aparecida de Santana, Cremilde Aparecida Trindade Radovanovic, et al. Texto E Contexto Enfermagem, 2026 Objective: to understand the perceptions of family members of adult patients regarding pre-hospital emergency care, focusing on coping with the emergency situation, emotional experiences, and the support received during care. Method: this is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach based on the principles of Family Systems Theory and Family-Centered Care, developed with people who accompanied the emergency care of their loved one provided by an advanced support team from the Brazilian Mobile Emergency Care Service (Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência - SAMU-192). Data collection took place in a municipality in the Southern region of Brazil between September and November 2024, through interviews conducted with the support of a semi-structured script. The data were organized and analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Results: a total of 12 family members participated. Two themes emerged from the narratives: “Between despair and relief: family perceptions of suffering and care in the pre-hospital context” and “Family members’ perception of the reception and accompaniment of pre-hospital care for a family-centered approach.” Conclusion: family members reported experiences marked by urgency and suffering, but also perceived SAMU-192 as an essential resource in crisis situations. They experienced feelings such as tranquility, comfort, and security while accompanying the care, although not all care was equally satisfactory. The findings highlight the need for professional training and new protocols which promote pre-hospital emergency care from the perspective of Family-Centered Care.

The thematic axes were grouped into three dimensions: structure, process, and outcome. Final Considerations: the work process was redefined according to the pandemic context, demonstrating the applicability of Donabedian’s Triad throughout the entire process of care and organizational restructuring at the studied institution.
Cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric evaluation of the Emergency Medical Services Safety Attitudes Questionnaire in the Brazilian context * Fernanda Silva Oliveira Camargo, Miyoko Massago, Samile Bonfim, Amanda de Carvalho Dutra, Edilaine Aparecida de Oliveira Araújo, et al. Journal of Patient Safety and Risk Management, 2024 Background Ensuring patient safety is essential to prevent and minimize adverse events, and pre-hospital services play a vital role in the healthcare network, serving as the starting point for quality care. This study aimed to adapt the Emergency Medical Services Safety Attitudes Questionnaire to the Brazilian context and evaluate its psychometric properties. Methods Beaton and colleagues’ guidelines were used as a reference. Construct validity was evaluated by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) based on the responses of 93 participants. Questions with reverse scoring were excluded in a further CFA. Results The content validity index was 0.99, and Cronbach's alpha was 0.90. The initial CFA resulted in a Tucker–Lewis index (TLI) of 0.95 and a comparative fit index (CFI) of 0.951. After the exclusion of reverse-coded questions (Q4 and Q9), TLI increased to 0.96 and CFI to 0.97. Conclusions The adapted instrument demonstrated good content, face, and construct validity, confirming its suitability for evaluating patient safety in prehospital services in Brazil. It can guide adjustments in care protocols, contributing to the safety and effectiveness of prehospital care while aligning with patient-centered best practices.
Nursing Checklist of Home Care Guidelines for Informal Caregivers in the Hospital Discharge Transition Samira Goldberg Rego Barbosa, Aroldo Gavioli, Julia Rosa Matia Cicchetto, Rafaely de Cássia Nogueira Sanches, Cremilde Aparecida Trindade Radovanovic Aquichan, 2024 Introduction: The use of pre-discharge tools enables the nursing team to guide informal caregivers, promoting continued care at home, which can minimize readmissions. Objective: To develop and validate a checklist to support the nursing team in guiding informal caregivers regarding home care during the discharge transition process. Materials and Methods: This is a methodological study, submitted to 14 nurse judges, who evaluated a checklist on care guidelines for informal caregivers in the hospital discharge transition. The study was performed in three stages: A literature review, the development of the checklist, and validation using the Delphi technique, which was conducted from February 2022 to January 2023, and the data was treated using scale reliability analysis, a content validity index, and an intraclass correlation coefficient. Results: The checklist was comprised of 10 domains: Hygiene and comfort; tracheostomy; oxygen therapy; nutrition; indwelling urinary catheter; ostomies; dressings; risk of falls; medication; returns and referrals, totaling 32 guidelines for informal caregivers. The checklist was submitted to two validation stages and, after implementing the changes suggested by the judges, a content validity index of 100% agreement was obtained between the evaluators, with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.84 and an intraclass correlation index of 0.80. Conclusions: The checklist presents good reliability, intraclass correlation, and content validation, and can be applied in professional practice and scientific settings regarding the transition to hospital discharge of critically ill patients, helping to promote continued care at home.
Men’s experience of caring for a family member with cancer: a theory based on data Larissa de Carli Coppetti, Elisabeta Albertina Nietsche, Maria Denise Schimith, Cremilde Aparecida Trindade Radovanovic, Maria Ribeiro Lacerda, et al. Revista Latino Americana De Enfermagem, 2024 Objective: to understand the meaning attributed by men to the experience of caring for their family member with cancer and to develop a substantive theory that represents the experience of men caring for their family member with cancer. Method: this is qualitative research guided by the methodological framework of Grounded Theory and the precepts of Symbolic Interactionism. A form with identification and interview data was used. The analysis followed the substantive and theoretical coding stages. Results: 12 male caregivers of their family member with cancer participated. The constant comparative analysis of the data allowed the creation of a substantive theory “Experiencing the care of a family member with cancer: men as a caregivers” explaining the experience that has as its central category “The love that drives care”, representing the symbolic actions and attitudes of men living in the context of illness due to cancer and care Conclusion: the theory allowed us to understand feelings, perceptions, ways of acting and facing the diagnosis, providing care, recognizing difficulties and learning from the situations that arise, making explicit the interactional processes and symbolic elements present and how these influence male caregivers in their actions and attitudes.
