- The integration of local stilt house architecture in natural disaster mitigation education in South Sumatra, Indonesia

The areas of Sumatra are multidisaster-prone zones, especially to floods and earthquakes. However, these regions also preserve local wisdom, particularly through stilt house architecture, which serves as a community-based adaptive strategy. This study aims to explore the function of local stilt houses as a form of disaster mitigation and assess the younger generation’s knowledge regarding the functional and philosophical aspects of stilt houses, as well as their potential for integration into disaster education. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving in-depth observations and interviews with community figures, along with the distribution of questionnaires to 158 students across South Sumatra. The study findings show that traditional stilt houses not only withstand flood and earthquake risks but also reflect socio-cultural, spiritual and environmental sustainability values. Their structural designs, use of local materials, house orientation and tiered-room concept serve as clear representations of ethnoscience in local architectural practice. The questionnaire results indicate that the majority of the younger generation possesses moderate to high understanding of the social and functional aspects of stilt houses but lacks sufficient knowledge of their symbolic and technical dimensions. These findings highlight the importance of integrating local knowledge into disaster education curricula to strengthen community resilience from an early age and preserve proven cultural adaptations to disaster risk.Contribution: This article contributes to disaster risk reduction efforts by integrating the local wisdom of stilt house architecture into science education. This research aimed to generate a learning trajectory in an introduction to early mathematics, precisely to measure learning using educational games and Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) and to describe young children’s curiosity in learning early mathematics. Children need to have an understanding to take a measurement and use a learning trajectory to learn how to differentiate measurable and countable quantities and to tell the longer and the greater in number. The design of this research involves three phases, namely, preliminary design, experimentation, and retrospective analysis. A Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) using educational games was developed by collecting data from documentation, observations, and interviews. The results obtained from the implementation in the classroom showed that the educational games were able to help young children get to know early mathematics, particularly on measurements of lengths and volumes. There is an association with several factors in the selection of realistic problems. Communications during the game could stimulate an introduction to measurement. The use of objects in students’ vicinity also contributed to their experiments relating to measurement. The results of this research inform policymaking for teachers in designing learning in the classroom in introducing early mathematics based on educational games and Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). - Using mathematics education game based ICT: Why children like to play game?

The purpose of this study to create a product of learning media based ICT in the from of mathemmatics education games. Mathematics education games is a software to learn mathematic especially made for kindegarden to help learning process in 2013 curicullum. This research methode use design research with three cycles. In this cycle describe about six young childrens tested wiht small group in research for the second step after literature riview. The result of studyis got that by the issue of improvement in the process of presenting the game so it will improve the design and validity and it will be tested. Interestingly, the student didn’t relize that the process is math learning and the curoisity to solve the game is improve. The student never use this kind of ICT before. Next, by improve skill and knowledge that is got during the game as a strating point that will be continue to the other activity that center in the curiousity earlychildhood. - ICT on mathematics learning process at Pagaralam elementary school

It is important to make the process of learning activities by the progress of the times, make learning becomes fun. This study aims to see how often teachers use ICT as a medium and source of learning. The research subjects were 14 elementary school teachers in Pagaralam with accreditation B. This study was descriptive qualitative, data collection used was an interview guide with eight questions, video and analyzed throughout the conversation from the data. The results of the study found that ICT as a media and learning resource is rarely used in the learning process due to the limited teacher’s ability to use or create ICT-based media in learning mathematics in elementary schools and school facilities to fulfil ICT-based learning. The majority, the use of computer media or laptop is used only as an administration tool in the office. - On curiosity to introduce mathematics in early childhood

The aimed of this study is to find the children curiosity in the learning process introducing mathematics and how the teacher foster children’s curiosity. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection used, observation, interview, video. This article tells about the part of the data collection by interview kindergarten teachers consist of six teachers from be of the different schools. Two teachers were interviewed in each school. The guide interview made consists of five questions, which have been validated by peer review and experts. The results of this study indicate that children’s curiosity is high in the learning process of mathematics because children have a sense of curiosity about what has just been seen, it needs a teacher’s effort, so the children always interested in learning, the teacher needs to create creative media in order to avoid children boredem and the child’s curiosity remains.
