Effects of Various Fuels on the Qualified Photoluminescence and Thermoluminescence Properties of BaZrONanophosphors T. N. Silpa, C. Pandurangappa, Yashaswini, S. Pratibha, A. Jayasheelan Journal of Mines Metals and Fuels, 2025 Glycine, urea, and citric acid are used as fuels in the simple combustion process to create Barium Zirconate (BaZrO3 ) (BAZ) nanophosphors, which are the subject of the qualified photoluminescence and thermoluminescence studies reported in this work. Using fundamental methods, the size, structure, and purity of the nanophosphors were assessed. Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD) spectra verified the cubic structure with space group Pm-3m and JCPDS card number 06-0399. Vibrational stretching of Zr-O bonds is explained by the strong peaks at 492-686 cm−1, while Fourier Transform Infrared microscopy (FTIR) spectra showed vibrational modes of Ba-O, which are metal oxide bonds, at 1465-1168 cm-1. SEM, or Scanning Electron Microscopy, shows that the processed materials have formed nanoparticles. The UV Intrinsic defects, crystal structure, energy transfer processes, and temperature effects all work together to influence the blue emission in BaZrO3 by generating localised energy states, promoting transitions, and influencing the efficiency of radiative recombination. The Photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra of BAZ nano powders up on 370 nm excitation revealed bluish emissions at 425 nm. The production of bluish phosphors is validated by the chromaticity coordinates. Thermoluminescence (TL) properties of BAZ nano particles subjected to 500Gy and 2KGy dosages were investigated. The kinetic parameters were determined, and the second order kinetics were validated by the produced powders TL glow curve. Major Findings: BAZ nanophosphors were successfully fabricated utilizing three distinct fuels. The luminescence features of the synthesized phosphors were discussed in detail. The prepared phosphors are good candidates for solid-state lightning and dosimteric applications.
