    Background: Disturbances in emotion regulation and emotional adaptation are common problems in drug users. This issue affects the quality of life in different dimensions. Therefore, training these people in cognitive emotion regulation strategies as a supplement to drug treatment helps improve their adaptation skills. In this study, we investigated the effect of a training program based on the cognitive emotion regulation on the emotional adaptation of patients with substance use disorder. Materials and Methods: This study was a double-blinded randomized controlled trial that was conducted in 2022–23. Forty-eight men with substance use disorder (SUD) under methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT) participated in the study. The participants were randomly divided into two intervention and control groups. The intervention consisted of six training sessions based on the cognitive regulation of emotion. The emotional adjustment was examined using the Emotional Adjustment Measure (EAM) before and 1 month after the end of the intervention. Descriptive and inferential statistics, such as independent and paired t -tests were used for data analysis. Results: Forty-eight male patients with SUD under MMT participated in the present study. There was a significant difference in the mean score of the EAM between the intervention and the control group after conducting the intervention ( p = 0.012). Conclusions: Educational programs based on emotion regulation can play a significant role in improving emotional adaptation in patients with substance use disorder. Therefore, this educational program is suggested as a complementary psychological approach to improving the level of psychological health of patients with substance use disorder.

  • Effects of Using Escape Room as an Assessment Game on Critical Thinking and Self-efficacy in Clinical Performance of Nursing Students: A Randomized Clinical Trial

    Nurses work in a complex and dynamic environment. The traditional approach does not allow nursing students to experience real-life clinical problems and manage stress on a real-time scale. The present study aimed to determine the effect of using an escape room as an assessment game on critical thinking and self-efficacy in nursing students'clinical performance. Materials and Methods: This randomized clinical trial was conducted with the participation of 80 sixth-semester nursing students in 2024. Sampling was done by convenience and random allocation of samples by card method including the intervention group (n=40) and control group (n=40). The intervention was an educational plan based on the use of escape rooms. Data collection was done using a standard self-efficacy questionnaire in clinical practice and a standard critical thinking questionnaire. The control group received routine educational programs. The obtaind data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 26) through descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The results showed that critical thinking scores in the tervention group increased from 250.20±32.30 at the pretest to 261.20±23.10 at the posttest. However, this change was not statistically significant ( P>0.05). Self-efficacy scores in the intervention group increased from 91.2±6.20 at pretest to 93.50±5.50 at posttest; however, it was not statistically significant ( P>0.05). In the control group, scores decreased from 88.40±8.20 to 85.70±5.60. However, these changes were also not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that using escape rooms as an educational method had positive effects on the critical thinking and self -efficacy of nursing students. However, these effects were not statistically significant and further studies are needed to investigate its long-term effects.

    BACKGROUND፡ Opioid abuse is one of the most obvious problems in today's world and directly affects individuals' quality of life. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of Roy's adaptation model on the quality of life in people with opioid abuse under methadone maintenance treatment.METHODS: This randomized trial study was conducted in 2021 on 72 patients with opioid abuse under methadone maintenance treatment at the Center for Addiction Harm Reduction in Isfahan. The samples were randomly allocated into intervention (n=36) and control groups (n=36) based on the table of random numbers by computer. The intervention was conducted by implementing Roy's adaptation model in the intervention group. To analyze the data, paired t-test, independent sample t-test, chi-square test, and analysis of covariance were used.RESULTS: The mean ± standard deviation of the quality of life score in the intervention group (28.96±4.79) was significantly different than before the intervention (24.02±6.09) (P<0.001). At the same time, it was not significantly different in the control group. The mean ± standard deviation of the quality of life score in the intervention group (24.02±6.09) was not significantly different from the control group (20.55±8.53) before the intervention.CONCLUSION: Roy's adaptation model had positive effects on the quality of life score in patients with opioid abuse. On the other hand, patients' quality of life indicates the effectiveness of methadone maintenance treatment. Therefore, it is suggested to use this model in nursing care programs.
