  • From Trend to Trademark: The Rise of AI generated Hashtags in Social Media Marketing
    Deepti Khubalkar
Journal of Intellectual Property Rights, 2025
Hashtag generation through AI for social media marketing can be a great way to ensure that hashtags are relevant and engaging. AI can help identify the most popular hashtags for the industry and target audience. It can also help to create new and unique hashtags that will make the content stand out. A symbol or term containing the hash symbol (#), commonly known as a 'hashtag,' can be registered as a service trademark only if it serves as an identifier for the source of the applicant's goods or services. Successful registration of hashtag trademarks has occurred in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Under common law, business reputation, represented by a name or label, can only be safeguarded through a passing-off action, a process that is complex and uncertain in its outcome. The Trade Marks Act of 1999 provides trademark registration, conferring statutory rights to the owner that surpass common law rights and offering a convenient method for safeguarding against infringement. In the contemporary world, social media plays a crucial role in achieving business objectives such as brand awareness and customer acquisition. Social media platforms have become essential tools for marketing companies to connect with their target audience. Among these tools, the hashtag (#) has gained significant prominence and has been globally registered as a trademark by numerous companies in the current decade. There is widespread awareness among owners and entrepreneurs regarding the use of hashtags in social media campaigns and their registration as trademarks. Despite the increasing use of hashtags in India over the years, there remains a question about whether, according to Indian Trademark law, hashtags can be considered for registration. This paper delves into the importance of employing hashtags in India and examines their international usage. This paper examines the common law as well as trademark law remedies in India where the AI generated hashtag words are used in social media to boost search engines and e-marketing affecting the right of branded product owner.
  • Legal Safeguards for Patients Undergoing High-Risk Surgeries
Nitin R. Nangare, Deepti Khubalkar, M.B. Bagwan, Rahul Atul Goswami, Mukesh Sharma
    Journal of Neonatal Surgery, 2025
High-risk operations such organ transplants, complicated cardiac procedures, and large cancer operations carry a lot of medical hazards including complications, extended recovery periods, and even death. Those who undergo these procedures so not only endanger their bodies but also run moral and legal issues. Legal safeguards are required to guarantee these patients' health and respect of their rights. The primary legal rights for those undergoing high-risk therapies are examined in this article. It emphasises informed consent, medical culpability, patient autonomy, and the responsibility of healthcare professionals in ensuring patients get moral and safe treatment. To provide their informed assent, patients have to completely grasp the hazards, benefits, and different choices apart from surgery. Patients have legal right to make their own decisions about their medical treatment. This right has to be respected, hence particular attention should be paid to youngsters and those with cognitive issues. Medical malpractice laws hold medical professionals accountable for delivering inadequate treatment and prevent their negligent actions. With the aid of ethical committees and legislation review procedures, challenging decisions about high-risk therapies benefit the patient most of the time. The article also addresses the harmony between a patient's right to be left alone and their possibility of being compelled to undergo surgery. This is particularly crucial in cases when the operation's result is quite crucial. By examining these legal safeguards, the article demonstrates the need of legislation safeguarding patients' rights, therefore reducing risks and fostering confidence in the healthcare system. At last, these protections ensure that therapies with a great risk are carried out with the appropriate moral, ethical, and carefulness.

  • Lightweight authenticated key management mechanism for enhanced data transmission in the Internet of Things framework
Ramchandra Vasant Mahadik, Satyawan Changadev Hembade, Deepti Khubalkar, Anup Ingle, Swapnil Thorat
Journal of Discrete Mathematical Sciences and Cryptography, 2024
The Internet of Things (IoT) system makes it possible for different gadgets to connect to each other and send and receive data without any problems. But it’s not easy to make sure that the data being sent and received within this structure is safe and correct. A Lightweight Authenticated Key Management Mechanism (LAKMM) is suggested as a way to solve this problem. The goal of LAKMM is to improve the security of data transfer in IoT settings while reducing processing waste and resource use, which are important factors for IoT devices that don’t have a lot of resources. LAKMM’s most important parts are its fast key creation, sharing, and identification systems that are designed to work in IoT settings. LAKMM finds a good mix between security and speed by using small cryptographic primitives and speeded-up protocols. It also protects against common attacks like eavesdropping, hacking, and repeat attacks, making sure that the data being sent is kept private and secure. LAKMM also has features for dynamic key changes and revocations, which are important for keeping things safe in IoT settings where devices are always joining and leaving the network. We show that LAKMM works well at offering strong security with little extra work for computers by simulating and analyzing it. So, LAKMM looks like a good way to improve the security of data transfer in the IoT framework.
  • Enhancing financial transaction security with lightweight cryptographic algorithms

Journal of Discrete Mathematical Sciences and Cryptography, 2024
The lightweight cryptographic algorithms used to increase the safety for financial transactions. The proposed lightweight cryptographic algorithms provide a middle ground, guaranteeing strong security with low computational overhead. Lightweight cryptography approaches being investigated for their potential in protecting private financial information during transactions. These algorithms are well-suited for real-time monetary transactions since they not only strengthen data integrity but also cut processing times through streamlined encryption and decryption processes. This paper focus into the planning, execution, and efficiency assessment of such lightweight cryptographic algorithms as they pertain to monetary systems. This study shows how successful they are at preventing common security threats like eavesdropping and data manipulation through extensive testing and analysis. Lightweight cryptographic algorithms have been shown to have the ability to dramatically improve the security of financial transactions, providing an efficient and cost-effective means of safeguarding sensitive financial data in today interconnected and potentially dangerous digital environment.
  • Review of the 2020 draft environment impact assessment notification governing public hearing process under environmental impact assessment in India
    Deepti Khubalkar, Karun Sanjaya
International Journal of Public Policy, 2024
Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is a critical component in receiving approval for the establishment of various developmental projects. The projects can range from the construction of dams to the establishment of a cement factory or even mining a particular place for the extraction of a wide variety of natural resources. The very exercise of carrying out public hearings is a hugely democratic process that involves inviting people from across the political spectrum and across socio-economic profiles to review and share their concerns about the project. Such participation gives an opportunity for the project planners and implementers to hear the concerns of people and respond in a proactive manner, thus lending democratic strength to the development initiative. This article aims to critically review the legal framework in India relating to public participation and hearing, especially in the context of social, economic, and environmental issues and recent modifications to the law in India.
