    SAE Technical Papers, 2025
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Intermetallic Zn-Mo to steel induction brazing was performed in an induction furnace at 1260 degrees Celsius for 0.8 thousand seconds utilising Ni-Cr-Zn filler metal. Base metal atoms such as zinc, molybdenum, and nickel are stated to diffuse to the contact and aggressively react with the filler metal during brazing. This is backed by microstructural research. The reaction layer near Zn-Mo, which is composed of Ni-Cr-Zn compounds and Ni-based solid solutions; the interface's centre zone, which is composed of Ni-based solid solutions with distributed Ni-Cr eutectic phases; and the NiC reaction layer near the steel. The interface is made up of all of these components. The best values for the induction brazing parameters may be calculated by analysing the association between the brazing parameters and the tensile strength of the joints. The joint has a tensile strength of 348 MPa after being brazed at a temperature of 1260 degrees Celsius for 0.8 thousand seconds.</div></div>
  • Effect of Chemical Treatment on Mechanical Properties of Hybrid Epoxy Composites Reinforced with Sisal and Bamboo Fibers
    Malaysian Journal of Chemistry, 2025
The research utilized hybridized composites that were hand-laid with a combination of natural reinforcing materials, an epoxy polymer matrix, and fillers made of cellulose and graphite. The reinforcing materials utilized were bamboo and sisal.Investigations on mechanical properties, thermal stability, and reinforcing effects of hybrid composites were conducted by thermogravimetric and mechanical means.Mechanical testing showed that increasing the amount of bidirectionally woven bamboo fiber improved the hybrid composites' tensile and flexural strengths, whereas increasing the quantity of chopped sisal fiber reduced it.The findings of the Izod impact tests showed that chopped sisal fibers were more resistant to impact loads than braided bamboo mat fibers.Conse quently, the hybrid composites' impact energy increased in direct proportion to the amount of chopped sisal fiber used.Researchers looked at the surface appearance of hybrid composites with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and discovered multiple failure routes, such as fiber pullout and cracks.

2025 IEEE 1st International Conference on Innovations in Engineering and Next Generation Technologies for Sustainability Icinvents 2025, 2025
This study examines the cyclic plasticity and compressive stress-induced structural transformations in electrodeposited boride. Bulk samples were prepared via pulsed and direct current electrodeposition and subsequently analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. Cyclic loading redistributed dislocation networks without significantly altering the average grain size, with smaller grains retaining higher residual stress levels. These findings demonstrate that electrodeposition is an effective method for producing boride structures with adjustable mechanical properties. The study enhances the understanding of grain size-stress interactions in electrodeposited materials and provides insights for designing boride-based coatings and components in aerospace, automotive, and energy applications.

    S. Dinesh Krishnaa, Manikandaprabu Pandiyan, R. Ben Ruben, J. Dhiyaneswaran, S. Sanjay Kumar
    SAE Technical Papers, 2024
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Fly ash is a light byproduct produced when pulverized coal is burnt in suspension-fueled furnaces in power plants. Separating the recovered fly ash from the exhaust gases. Due to its distinct physical and chemical properties, it is utilized in a wide variety of industrial and building applications. These applications include the production of cement and concrete, the stabilization of liquid waste, and hydraulic mining backfill. Fly ash has the potential to enhance the physical and mechanical properties of aluminum castings, as well as reduce their costs and increase their densities, all while lowering their prices. This research investigated the effect of fly ash incorporation on the mechanical properties of the aluminum casting alloy ZA8. Investigated were the cast and heat-treated varieties of unreinforced ZA8 and its metal matrix composite of 15% ferrous, 20% nickel, 10% fly ash, and 10% magnesium carbide. According to the results, the quantity of fly ash in the melt affected the tensile and impact properties of the metal matrix composite. The loss of magnesium atoms in the matrix, which contributes to the strength of solid solutions, and porosity both contribute to the lower mechanical properties and impact resistance of the metal matrix composite.</div></div>
  • Irradiation with High Energy Electron Beams Increases the Hardness of Metamorphic Copper-Based Alloys
    S. Dinesh Krishnaa, M. Sangeeth Kumar, J. Dhiyaneswaran, V.P. Rishi Karthikeyan, B. Saran Rithik
    SAE Technical Papers, 2024
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">This study delves into the innovative realm of synthesizing surface alloyed materials by utilizing copper-based metamorphic powders subjected to high-intensity electron beam irradiation. The process involves depositing metamorphic particles onto a stainless-steel substrate, and subsequently exposing the assembly to a powerful electron beam, resulting in the development of distinct surface alloyed layers. A notable advancement was achieved by introducing a second layer of metamorphic powders over the existing alloyed layer, followed by further treatment with the electron beam. The alloyed layers, characterized by a volumetric concentration ranging from 60 to 67%, exhibited a fascinating phenomenon— the formation of abundant borate crystals with the chemical formula Al2.56Fe1.75Ni0.84. This crystal presence significantly elevated the hardness of the surface alloyed layers, showcasing an impressive five to sevenfold increase compared to the substrates. Importantly, the alloyed layers demonstrated remarkable thermal stability, successfully enduring a rigorous test at 450 degrees Celsius. The subsequent Vickers hardness measurement, registering at 300 VHN, underscores the substantial and enduring hardness achieved. Beyond these core findings, this study sheds light on the potential of alloyed-surface materials in demanding applications requiring robust heat resistance and exceptional wear resistance. The methodological synergy of metamorphic powders and electron beam irradiation serves as a promising avenue for the development of advanced materials with heightened mechanical properties. Furthermore, this research opens avenues for future investigations into the specific structural and compositional attributes contributing to the observed material enhancements.</div></div>
  • Cracking Activity and Characterization of Magnesium Titanium Dioxide - Silicon Dioxide Catalysts

    SAE Technical Papers, 2024
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Purified nickel and a large number of MgTi2 / NiO2 catalysts with various MgTi2 loadings were produced using the traditional incipient wetness method. X-ray crystallography and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy were used to examine the catalysts. To understand the material's microstructure better, the researchers investigated oxygen adsorption at 90K. The amine titration method was used to investigate the acidic characteristics of these catalysts. In a study on cumene cracking, these catalysts were employed. The catalyst was found to be amorphous up to a loading of 12 weight percent MgTi2, but at higher loadings, crystalline MgTi2 phase formed on an amorphous silica substrate. When NiO2 is doped with more MgTi2, there are significant differences in the structure, surface acidity, and catalytic activity of the catalysts. Catalysts with a higher MgTi2 loading are noticeably more acidic than those with a lower MgTi2 loading. A correlation between the amount of cracking activity and the number of acid sites on the catalyst surface has been shown in numerous studies. Cumene cannot be cracked over the investigated catalysts unless the catalyst contains extremely acidic sites. Unmistakably Bronsted acid sites, with the breaking action attributed to a mechanism involving chromium ions. The results were validated by comparing them with relevant studies in the existing literature. These comparisons demonstrate consistency with similar research, confirming the effectiveness of the MgTi2/NiO2 catalysts.</div></div>
  • Compelling Forces and Challenges for the Food Processing Industry to Adopt Industry 4.0
    S. Ranjith Kumar, N. Ramachandran, R. Sivasubramanian, J. Dhiyaneswaran, Arun Kurien Reji
Internet of Things Technological Advances and New Applications, 2023
In today’s competitive market, each and every industry or any business enterprises strive hard to sustain their position. As the technology gets upgraded at each and every phase, organizations and enterprises are forced to adopt the technologies. The technology that the industries and business enterprises want to embrace in the current scenario is Industry 4.0. German industrial giants in the year 2011 showcased Industry 4.0 at an Expo. Different companies like Cisco, GE called this technology with different names such as Internet of Services, Industrial Internet, etc., and at last this was named as a paradigm by the network specialists in the communication sector as Industry 4.0. The concepts and technological aspects caught the eyes of all industries across the globe. This technology later spread to other European continents and it is in the phase of introduction in Asian countries. Industrial Internet of Things are also an integrated component of Industry 4.0. Since it is the fourth technological advancement in the industry, it is named as Industry 4.0. The evolution starts from the first phase which is mechanization started in the beginning 2of the 18th century followed by the introduction of assembly lines in the verge of the 20th century. Examples are the Cincinnati slaughterhouse where a large volume of meat is sheared, cut packed into different parts and dispatched. The same methodology was reversed by employed by Henry Ford in the automobile assembly lines where smaller components are integrated together to formulate a car or any kind of automobile. The third industrial revolution started in the early 1970s with the introduction of internet and electronics followed by the Industrial revolution 4.0 which is the cyber-physical systems. This chapter focuses on how a food processing industry is compelled to adopt the latest trend as well as the challenges faced after adopting the new technology.

    Aip Conference Proceedings, 2022
The Concept and idea behind our E-bike is that due to the increase in usage of automobiles in the world, in turn it increases global warming and heat in our world. On behalf of this, the Indian government took a mission that by 2030, the nation will be transformed to a 100 percent e-mobility country. To achieve this humongous mission, first we need to achieve the factors like customers acceptability and desirability and the major factor cost-efficiency. In 2021, 15.2 million units of engine-based bikes were sold in India and the previous year 21 million units were sold. So, these bike owners tend to use these bikes around 10 years from the purchase, this shatters India’s 2030 mission. To overcome this, we come up with an idea that if we can convert the conventional engine bikes to electric bikes then we can displace the engines into e-bikes, which can make stupendous improvement in e-mobility usage in our country. Our bike is totally built and designed using old bikes, which makes it cost efficient as well as it retains every grain feature of bikes.
