An evaluation of popular edge detection techniques in digital image processing N. Anandakrishnan and S. Santhosh Baboo IEEE Edge is a sudden change that occurs in an image. Edge Detection is the approach used most frequently for segmenting images based on abrupt changes in intensity. It is a concept that covers a number of fields in today's environment. In this paper the survey of different Edge Detection techniques like classical, augmented or may be a derived algorithm in different bases such as Fuzzy Logic, Genetic Algorithm, or Neural Networks and others which are used as Soft Computing Approaches today, are comparatively studied.
