Experimental approach to investigate heat transfer enhancement using nanofluids with jet impingement R. N. Todkar, Kishor B. Waghulde, M. M. Patil International Journal of Ambient Energy, 2022 Nanofluids are nanotechnology-based heat transfer fluids with a scattered solid phase (nanoparticles) and a continuous liquid phase (base fluids). Experimental work was done using MWCNTs with ethylene glycol water. Concentration by % weight 0.2–2.0 was considered for the study. The flow rate was from 5 LPM to 25 LPM. The CFD analysis was performed to find the surface heat transfer coefficient. The properties of nanofluids were calculated with the help of a standard relation and measuring instruments andtheir effects in variations with the concentration of nanofluids. The heat transfer coefficient increases with a Reynolds number or flow rate increase. Compared with the base fluid without nanoparticles, all concentrations of nanoparticles show the excellent characteristic of heat transfer. The best concentration was 1.4% and heat transfer enhancement was 72.74% ompared to the base fluid. It shows that 1.4–2.0% weight concentration of a nanofluid achieves the highest cooling rate with ethylene glycol.
