Abstract The general objective of the research is to formulate a development model for the cultivation of multiple biota (Gracilaria sp and Chanos chanos) as a pillar as the main support for the implementation of the development of the milkfish- agar agroindustry in the province of Central Sulawesi. The research was conducted in 3 districts producing seaweed and milkfish, namely, Morowali Regency, Parimo Regency and Donggala Regency. Each district is represented by 2 sub-districts which are the largest producers of seaweed so that there are 6 sub-districts. This research using a survey method by taking samples directly in the field by simple random sampling and purposive sampling, GIS methods for land suitability and SWOT analysis. Seaweed processing technology and marketing analysis supported SWOT analysis as requirements for development model of dual biota cultivation. The results showed that The suitability of the land is mostly suitable for the cultivation of milkfish and seaweed in Donggala Regency (716.09 Ha), Parimo Regency (674.91 Ha) and Morowali Regency (118.33ha). supported by water quality condition in 3 Regency which is quite optimal for the land suitability for cultivation of seaweed and milkfish, as well as factors that support the development model of milkfish-agar agroindustry.

On September 28, 2018 the Palu City and its surroundings experienced an earthquake of M 7.4 and Tsunami. This incident had a major impact on the community, especially seaweed farmers. The study aims to determine the effect of water quality on the production of seaweeds (Kappaphycus alvarezii and Spinosum sp) post-earthquake-tsunami in Central Sulawesi. This study are located Parigi Moutong and Donggala Regency. The research variables were observed include quality of the seawater and seaweeds production before-after the earthquake-tsunami Palu. Suitability of seaweed culture identification using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results showed that the location most suitable seaweeds culture is at a spacing of 300-500 meters from the river mouth while the water quality such as temperature, salinity, brightness, depth, dissolved oxygen, pH, surface current, pH, phosphate, nitrate, TDS and TSS, still within acceptable limits for the growth and production of seaweeds. Gracilaria sp. can no longer becultivated after an earthquake disaster due to the pond water quality not supporting its growth. Spinosum sp is more cultivated than Kappaphycus alvarezii in Parimo and Donggala, with a decrease in seaweeds production 50-60% after the earthquake-Tsunami Palu.

  • Marine litter's composition and density at Baiya Beach in Palu Bay

Sea is a wealth of nature that contains a wide variety of resources, for living things. Marine health is an important thing that must be maintained for sustainable living. Marine Litter is a waste from land that goes into the sea and disrupts the ecosystems of marine health, especially materials that cannot decompose such as plastics, glass, and others. The purpose of this research was to determine the waste's composition and density based on the type of material and to know the trend of type and concentration of marine litter. A sampling of marine litter at Baiya Beach followed the criteria according to the guidance survey of marine litter on the beach. Baiya Beach is located in Palu Bay and meets the criteria in the monitoring of marine litter. The results obtained, there were 10 meso types of wastes (0.5-2.5 cm) that dominated by woods, plastics, and glasses & ceramics with density of 57.83 pieces m−2, 20.79 pieces m−2, 19.90 pieces m−2 respectively, while the macro type (>2.5cm) contained 25 types that dominated by plastic, wood, and other materials (sanitary) with a density respectively of 9.72 piece m−2, 3.40 piece m−2, 160.32 piece m−2. These results showed that the type and quantity of litter are generally derived from human activity.
