Élia Roldão is a photographs conservator, holding a PhD in Conservation and Restoration of Heritage - Specialization in Conservation Sciences, from NOVA School of Science and Technology. Her research career has been guided by the pursuing of development of non-invasive and innovative methods for identification and assessment of photographs, as well the development of curative conservation treatments. Through her career, she has also gained extensive experience into the practice of conservation and restoration of photographs and in preventive conservation of photographic collections at several Portuguese institutions (2000 – 2019). Since 2019, she is an Invited Assistant Professor, teaching in the Bachelor and Master levels at the Department of Conservation and Restoration from NOVA School of Science and Technology.

EDUCATION

PhD in Conservation and Restoration of Heritage in the field of Conservation Science, at NOVA School of Science and Technology.
Thesis: "A contribution for the preservation of cellulose esters black and white negatives”. PhD research funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (National Science Foundation). Grant SFRH/BD/72560/2010.
