  • Technology-Driven Productivity Gaps in Indonesian Textile Manufacturing: A Big Data Analytics Approach Using DEA-Malmquist Index
Muhammad Febry Karyaningadi, Fajra Octrina, Yuhana Astuti
Proceeding Isiber 2026 International Seminar on Intelligent Business and Edge Computing Research, 2026
As businesses increasingly rely on rigorous data analytics to guide strategic choices, sophisticated measurement methodologies have become critical tools for assessing manufacturing sector competitiveness. This research utilizes productivity assessment techniques combining Data Envelopment Analysis with Malmquist Productivity Index calculations to generate comprehensive performance evaluations for Indonesian textile manufacturing enterprises. Through systematic examination of twelve stock-listed textile companies over the 2014-2024 period, the study measures aggregate productivity changes while separating efficiency improvements from technological advancements. Results demonstrate striking performance disparities: top-tier firms registered 28.8% annual productivity gains, while bottom-tier companies suffered 37.7% annual declines. Component analysis establishes that technological progress-not efficiency enhancement-constitutes the decisive factor distinguishing successful from struggling manufacturers. The research employs quadrant analysis to categorize enterprises into four performance groups. Such data-driven findings provide significant guidance for both industrial policy formulation and firm-level strategic management, establishing that technology-focused analytics deliver practical recommendations for elevating manufacturing competitiveness in developing economic contexts.

  • Cost and Productivity Change in Asset and Profit-Oriented Indonesian Banks in the Digital Finance Era
    Cici Siti Barkah, Fajra Octrina
2025 International Conference on Data Science and Its Applications Icodsa 2025, 2025
This paper investigates the productivity dynamics of 41 conventional banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2023 using the non-parametric Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI). Two key indicators, such as Total Factor Productivity Change (TFPCH) and Cost Malmquist Productivity Change (CMPCH), are evaluated under both asset-oriented and profit-oriented approaches. The results show that TFPCH growth is primarily driven by technological progress, while improvements in technical and scale efficiency remain limited. In contrast, CMPCH reveals a slight decline in cost productivity, primarily attributed to weak cost technology gains and rising operational expenses resulting from the development of digital infrastructure and the need for skilled labor. The profit-oriented model also highlights banks’ vulnerability to external shocks. This is among the first studies to apply a dual-oriented MPI framework in analyzing productivity trends in the post-regulatory reform digitalization of Indonesian banks. The partial recovery of CMPCH in 2021 and 2023 aligns with the implementation of Indonesia’s Digital Banking Framework by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), underscoring the role of regulatory support in enabling cost-efficiency gains. The findings suggest that while digital transformation has expanded the production frontier, it has yet to generate consistent cost improvements. To achieve sustainable productivity growth, banks must complement technology adoption with improved cost management, operational efficiency, and alignment with policy initiatives. These insights offer practical implications for shaping digital financial sector strategies in developing countries undergoing similar transitions, emphasizing the need for integrated technological and institutional approaches.
  • Productivity Analysis of Listed Islamic Banks in QISMUT Countries: A Malmquist Index Approach
    Salsabila Ayuri, Fajra Octrina
2025 International Conference on Data Science and Its Applications Icodsa 2025, 2025
Global Islamic banking is driven by the QISMUT countries (Qatar, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey), which have large Muslim populations and strong Islamic banking assets. This cross-country study compares the productivity of Islamic banks listed on QISMUT stock exchanges. Cross-country productivity analysis using the Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI), an extension of the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), remains limited, with most previous studies only analyzing productivity in each country separately. The analysis reveals a slight increase in overall productivity (TFPCH = 1.001), with gains mainly driven by efficiency gains (EFFCH = 1.017), while technological change (TECHCH = 0.985) lags, indicating the need for stronger adoption of innovation. The findings emphasize that productivity growth among these banks is mainly driven by efficiency gains, with limited technological progress. Therefore, Islamic banks in QISMUT countries should not only focus on improving operational efficiency but also adopt policies such as Al Rajhi Bank’s approach, which has achieved remarkable productivity growth. Al Rajhi Bank’s commitment to sustainability through the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), along with its "Bank of the Future" (BOTF) initiative, which combines agile methodologies, robotics and data-driven insights, has simplified operations, expanded its digital footprint and enhanced operational service performance. Al Rajhi Bank offers a valuable model for other banks seeking to improve their productivity, competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
  • Clustering of Medical Hospitals Listed on the Stock Exchange in Indonesia and Malaysia Based on Efficiency Performance Using Data Envelopment Analysis and Cluster Analysis
M Agis Maulana, Nora Amelda Rizal, Fajra Octrina, Almi Jamilah
2024 International Conference on Intelligent Cybernetics Technology and Applications Icicyta 2024, 2024
Measuring the efficiency performance of hospitals listed on the stock exchange is very important to determine how efficiently hospitals utilize available resources. The high population in Indonesia and Malaysia creates opportunities for hospitals to compete for large market segments by showing their best performance, resulting in intense competition between hospitals. This study employs Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) using a multi-stage input-oriented method to measure the efficiency of six hospitals listed on the stock exchanges in Indonesia and Malaysia from 2018 to 2023. The variables include four inputs (hospital beds, hospital staff, number of hospitals, and operating expenses) and two outputs (outpatient visits and inpatient). The results show variations in efficiency scores. HEAL and KPJH consistently achieved maximum efficiency scores, indicating the best performance. On the other hand, SAME and TDMS showed lower efficiency, highlighting areas needing improvement. Cluster Analysis using K-Means grouped the hospitals into two clusters based on performance. Cluster 0 includes hospitals with higher efficiency, namely SILO, MIKA, HEAL, and KPJH. Meanwhile, Cluster 1 consists of SAME and TDMS, indicating the need for strategic improvements. This study provides insights into the performance of hospitals listed on the stock exchanges in Indonesia and Malaysia, aiding policymakers and hospital management in optimizing resource management.
