Garsho Rahul is a Social Work professional and Ph.D. Research Scholar at Bharathidasan University, focusing on the psycho-social problems of youth in Kerala’s fishermen community. With an MSW in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, he is actively engaged in teaching, research, and training. His work includes conducting workshops on research methodology, SPSS, CSR funding, and social legislations, along with providing UGC NET coaching for Social Work students. Passionate about community development and mental health, he collaborates with NGOs, colleges, and institutions to promote awareness, empowerment, and evidence-based social work practice.

EDUCATION

Garsho Rahul is a dedicated scholar from Alappuzha, Kerala, who has built a strong academic foundation in the field of Social Work. He completed his schooling at Leo XIII Higher Secondary School, Alappuzha, where he developed an early interest in community welfare and human development. He later pursued his Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), followed by a Master of Social Work (MSW) with specialization in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work. His passion for research and grassroots engagement motivated him to continue his academic journey, and he is currently a Ph.D. Research Scholar in the Department of Social Work at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. His doctoral work focuses on understanding the psycho-social problems faced by youth in the fishermen community of Kerala, reflecting his deep commitment to marginalized and vulnerable populations.

The outputs are published in peer-reviewed journals and are publicly accessible, demonstrating his active contribution to academic knowledge in social work and community mental health in marginalized fishing communities.

Industry, Institute, or Organisation Collaboration

Garsho Rahul has collaborated extensively with SMART India Foundation (SIF) in multiple capacities, including as a trainer, mentor, panelist, and resource person. Through this partnership, he has conducted workshops and sessions on social work practice, youth empowerment, mental health, and casework, helping students and young professionals develop practical skills. He has also participated in panel discussions on children’s rights, including “Are We Listening to Our Children Enough?” on Social Justice Day, and contributed to the Foundation’s youth-oriented initiatives such as the SMART Kids Project. His engagement with SIF reflects his commitment to community development, capacity-building, and evidence-based social work, complementing his academic and research work on psycho-social issues, especially among marginalized communities like youth in fishermen communities.
