  • Multi-objective job scheduling in green cloud with big data: a hybrid heuristic approach for minimizing energy in datacenters
Aarthee Selvaraj, Prabakaran Rajendran, Kanimozhi Rajangam, Sujatha Sundaram
    Intelligent Decision Technologies, 2025
Job scheduling has become one of the most challenging issues in the research field of data centers within the cloud computing sector. Green cloud computing is a paradigm that employs efficient techniques to significantly reduce carbon emissions, CPU frequency scaling, and overall energy consumption. The large volume of data processed necessitates the consideration of data center strategies to mitigate energy consumption, along with other factors such as environmental impact, operational cost, and system reliability. Thus, this research aims to develop a new job scheduling scheme in a big data-assisted green cloud environment by formulating a multi-objective optimization problem that considers makespan, power consumption, latency, and resource utilization. For handling big data, the MapReduce framework is employed. To implement the green cloud, a Hybrid Firefly Water Strider Optimization (HFWSO) algorithm is developed by combining the Firefly Algorithm (FFA) and Water Strider Algorithm (WSA). This algorithm optimizes the number of servers and jobs allocated based on data volume, ensuring efficient job distribution across servers. Task scheduling is performed to solve a multi-objective function under various constraints. The makespan of the developed model is 148.3 s, energy consumption is 6.72 kWh, and resource utilization is 76.50%. Thus, the findings demonstrate that it effectively minimizes the energy consumption in data centers and also appropriately allocates jobs to machines. These comparative findings also reinforce the suitability of HFWSO as a powerful metaheuristic for multi-objective optimization in energy-efficient cloud computing environments, making it a promising candidate for practical applications requiring balanced trade-offs among makespan, energy consumption, latency, and resource utilization.
  • Energy-Efficient Secure Routing for a Sustainable Heterogeneous IoT Network Management
    Ashok Thangavelu, Prabakaran Rajendran
    Sustainability Switzerland, 2024
The Heterogeneous Internet of Things (H-IoT) is considered as the upcoming industrial and academic revolution in the technological world, having billions of things and devices connected to the Internet. This H-IoT has a major issue of energy consumption during data transmission which leads to low scalability. Additionally, anomalies in the data create a serious threat to energy in H-IoT. To overcome these issues, a novel approach has been proposed in this study termed as the Energy-Efficient Memetic Clustering Method (EEMCM), which combines the Parallelized Memetic Algorithm (PMA) with the AlexNet architecture to improve anomaly detection efficiency in IoT WSNs. Initially, cluster formation and CH selection are carried out using PMA. This is followed by routing path generation, and the data are prepared for high-level feature extraction. The extracted features are classified to identify anomalies. For anomaly detection, high-level features were collected that contain data relevant to the model given as input into the AlexNet architecture, which detects anomalies and identifies normal or potential attacks within the IoT WSNs. The proposed EEMCM model has been implemented in the MATLAB platform and obtained an accuracy of 99.11%. As a result, the overall performance of the network is improved.
  • Artificial Neural Network Machine Learning Model for Malicious Action Detection and Prevention of MANET Assets
    G. Mani, R. Prabakaran
2024 1st International Conference on Cognitive Green and Ubiquitous Computing IC Cgu 2024, 2024
The main objective of this paper is to create a novel architecture of a machine learning model to identify and detect the malicious attacks occur in MANET statically and dynamically. Earlier research works have proposed various secured routing protocols for malicious activity detection whereas they are all detecting the attacker after the malicious action created in the network. However, the problem is, the MANET needs a novel method to identify and detect the malicious action to prevent the network, data, and other properties of the network. Hence this paper proposed an Artificial Neural Network model for learning, diagnosing, and detecting abnormal activities present in the MANET, and eliminate the corresponding actions and the node from the network function. Three different dataset is created in the network before and after deploying the nodes in the network, routing table, and intermediate node information input to ANN for analyzation. The simulation is created in NS-2 software and the results are verified based on the network performance with respect to remaining energy, throughput, packet delivery ratio, and packet loss. The performance of the ANN is evaluated by comparing its output with the other earlier methods and prove its efficiency.

International Arab Journal of Information Technology, 2023
Big Medical Data (BMD) is generated by cellular telephones, clinics, academics, suppliers, and organizations. Collecting, finding, analyzing, and managing the big data to make people's lives better, comprehending novel illnesses, and treatments, predicting results at initial phases, and making real-time choices are the actual issues in healthcare systems. Dealing with big medical data in resource scheduling is a major issue that aims to offer higher quality healthcare services. Hadoop MapReduce has been widely used for parallel processing of large data tasks and efficient job scheduling. The number of big data tasks is constantly growing; it is becoming more essential to minimize their energy usage to reduce the environmental effect and operating expenses. Hence to overcome these disadvantages, we propose a novel resource scheduler for big data using a Hybrid 2-GW Optimization Algorithm (H2-GWOA). We employ the Improved GlowWorm Swarm Optimization Algorithm (IGSOA) and Mean GreyWolf Optimization Algorithm (MGWOA) for optimizing the MapReduce framework in heterogeneous big data. The CloudSim platform was used for the simulations. The performance of the proposed scheduler is proved to be better than the conventional methods in terms of metrics like latency, makespan, resource utilization, skewness, and Central Processing Unit (CPU) consumption.
  • Load frequency control of a three-area power system based on the optimal tuning of a fractional-order proportional–integral–derivative controller with multi-objective gray wolf optimization
    B. Prakash Ayyappan, Dr. Kanimozhi R., and
Journal of Engineering Research Kuwait, 2023
In an interconnected electrical power system, load frequency control is a most important ancillary service essential for maintaining the electrical system reliability at an adequate level. A Multi-Objective Grey Wolf Optimization (MOGWO) algorithm is introduced for maintaining a balance among exploitation and exploration stages and provides the best value of fitness. During the occurrence of the disturbance in the output of the system the optimization is implemented with Firefly Algorithm (FFA) and MOGWO which is tuned carefully and also the parameters are compared with three-area three-source model of the power system. A Fractional Order Proportional and Derivative (FOPID) controller is a PID controller whose derivative and integral orders are fractional rather than integer. The FOPID controller supports the better stability of the designed model with controlled deviation in frequency and grid tie line power deviations. In this proposed research work, optimal tuning of parameters of various controllers like PI, PID and FOPID in the power system is to regulate frequency in a multi-area multi-source model which is designed with the hydro-thermal-gas generation units. The output performance of the model designed is estimated from simulation results by means of MATLAB-SIMULINK tool. The dynamic performances of the system are studied with 1% or 2% step load perturbation in one Area. Sensitivity analysis reveals that the FFA and MOGWO optimized FOPID controller parameters obtained at nominal condition of loading, size and position of disturbance and system parameters are robust and need not be reset with wide changes in system. The simulation results show the effectiveness of FOPID controller in the presence and the absence of the FF and MOGWO algorithms considered and in that MOGWO algorithm is executed appropriately and it has improved the performance based on metrics such as overshoot, undershoot, and settling time.
  • AGC of Multi Area Multi Source Restructured Electric Power System with Differential Evolution Algorithm based PID Controller
    B.Prakash Ayyappan, R. Kanimozhi, R. Prabakaran, R. Thanigaiselvan, B. Priya, et al.
International Journal on Electrical Engineering and Informatics, 2023
: In an interconnected multi-area deregulated power system, the dynamics of AGC depends on the frequency oscillations and variations in tie line power flow according to the bilateral contracts scheduled between GENCOs and DISCOs. This paper presents an algorithm for solving optimal power flow problem through the application of Differential Evolution. The optimal electric power flow is obtained by using DE method and the performance of the controller is investigated on a three-area interconnected power system consisting of Thermal-Thermal-Thermal unit in one area, Hydro-Thermal unit in the second area, and Thermal-Hydro unit in the third area. Simulation results have shown that the bilateral contracts are implemented in the system. The new Differential Evolution Algorithm (DEA) method is used for designing the concept of Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of hydro-thermal system which is under open market scenario. Open transmission access develops gradually with more socialized companies for generation, transmission and distribution which generally affect the formulation of AGC problem. The simulation results by the use of MATLAB simulink show the effectiveness of DE-PID controller considered and executed appropriately, which improves the performance based on metrics such as frequency and Tie line power deviations.

SummaryA wireless sensor network (WSN) can give a coordinated and minimal effort checking and control answer for such keen emotionally supportive systems. In this paper, we have discussed about the SEP in comparison with LEACH for smart home applications. Smart home scenario of an industry is taken into consideration in our research. The normal sink node is represented in the name of link node that connects the multiple sectors in the smart home scenario. In addition, it will act as a cluster head for the entire smart home setup. Moreover, the present research work proposes the plan of a low energy and high throughput and various levelled cluster‐based directing convention for smart home sensor organize application. Proposed protocol performs dynamic cluster head choice in light of various node qualities like node enduring energy, remoteness of the node from the link (sink), and average distance of the node from various neighbor nodes. Cluster head appropriation is even and brings about upgraded organization lifetime. Sensor nodes process the sense information utilizing nearby on‐board processors and exclude the repetitive information from transmission. In the final section, the energy level and the through put can be compared with the LEACH for getting a better understanding. The simulation results of the proposed technique clarify the energy consumed and the energy remaining in the stream. The energy will be measured in Joules. Moreover, the dead node will be tracked and intimated through our proposed work. The packet delivery and the delayed process of each and every node will be discussed in the proposed simulation result. The energy level remained will be calculated in Joules measurement. The SEP level will be more when compared with LEACH protocol. The energy level will be improved in case of SEP as 5, 10, 15, and 20 J/ ms.
