Prof. Dr. Hussein K. Khafaji was born in Karbala, Iraq, in 1966. He received his B.Sc. in computer science in 1989, and he received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in computer science in 1992 and 2002, respectively, from the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq. He was promoted to the rank of professor in 2012. His research interests are in database and data mining, DBMS, expert systems, and artificial intelligence. From 1993 to  2005, he was an academic staff member at Al-Rafidain University College. From 2008 to 2009, he served as the Head of the Information Technology Department in the College of Engineering at the German-Syrian University. Currently, he occupies the Chair of the Department of Computer Communications Engineering in Al-Rafidain University College. He has served on the council of this university college since 2012. From 2017 until now, he has been a member of the Council of the Iraqi Commission for Computers and Informatics in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Re
