Dr. Jagdeep Oraon, M.A. (Social-Cultural Anthropology), M.Phil. (Social-Cultural Anthropology), Ph.D. (Social and Cultural Anthropology). (birth. 1981) is presently working as Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology and Tribal Studies; Convener of Centre for Tribal Research and Development; Member of Centre of Endangered Languages; and Ex-NSS Programme Officer at Sidho Kanho Birsha University, Purulia, West Bengal, India. His research interests, originating from his native states of Jharkhand and West Bengal, cover a vast area of social and cultural anthropology and tribal studies, including tribal ethnography, tribal and local languages, identity and migration, indigenous knowledge, ethnomedicine, Chhau dance, Nachni dance, folk media, and communication. He participated and presented research articles in more than 30 national and international seminars and published more than 20 research articles in national and international edited volumes and journals.

EDUCATION

Ph.D. from Ranchi University, Ranchi, completed and awarded in December 2018 in the subject of anthropology.
