  • Antecedents and outcomes of ICTs adoption by mompreneurs: Empirical evidence from Brazil
Fernanda Francielle de Oliveira Malaquias, Lisemaura Aparecida dos Santos Jacobi, José Eduardo Ferreira Lopes
    Information Development, 2023
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been an ally of women wishing to engage in entrepreneurial activity, especially of the mompreneurs. Within this context, this study aims to investigate the antecedents and outcomes of the use of ICTs by mompreneurs. The data were collected in Brazil through an online questionnaire and were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results indicated that perceived usefulness, social influence, and trust are antecedent factors of the use of ICTs by these women. Moreover, the use of ICTs has a positive impact on the perception of mompreneurs regarding the financial performance of their ventures in relation to competitors. The results also show that more than 97% of the mompreneurs use smartphones and WhatsApp to manage their business, suggesting that social media and mobile devices have assumed a predominant role in female ventures, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, period in which the data were collected.

Marco Antonio Catussi Paschoalotto, José Eduardo Ferreira Lopes, Pedro Henrique de Oliveira, Pedro Pita Barros
    Bar Brazilian Administration Review, 2022
This article analyzes the differences between public and private health services regarding infrastructure and human resources at the state (subnational) and macro-regional levels in Brazil. The research collected monthly data on inpatient beds and the number of nurses, physiotherapists, and doctors from Brazilian states for 2020. Indicators were created following quarterly changes and comparing the actions of public and private healthcare entities. Variations were analyzed using temporal graphs based on means and standard deviation. The findings suggest: (1) exponential growth in health care infrastructure and human resources led by public sector investment in the second quarter, followed by a slowdown; (2) a more significant variation in the acceleration and deceleration of the public sector response in the North of Brazil and the states of Maranhão, Rio Grande do Norte, and the Federal District; (3) the public sector was the primary response mechanism to the pandemic considering the variations throughout the year. The study concludes that the government was the leading actor in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil in 2020, pointing out that responses were uneven in the states.

    J. Pereira, J. F. Lopes, G. Porto
International Journal of Innovation Management, 2021
This research aims to identify the factors that characterise the evolutionary stages of the development cycle of information and communication technology (ICT) companies, based on Brazilian evidence. A data collect was done and the analysis shows the factors related to the companies’ success. In addition, the results show factors related to the evolutionary stages of the ICT companies and demonstrate the differences in the characteristics of each stage of the company: nascent, in consolidation and mature. The results of this research provide information to entrepreneurs to improve the performance of their enterprises and, consequently, contribute to the development of the ICT sector in Brazil and other countries with similar characteristics. Furthermore, based on the results found in the different characteristics of companies at each evolutionary stage, this research provides information to policy-makers to develop really effective mechanisms to contribute to the technology sector and, subsequently, to a better economic and social development of their countries.

    Revista Brasileira De Marketing, 2018
As PMEs valorizaram aspectos ligados qualidade e experincia.
  • The regionalization of the Brazilian national health system: Proposition for performance evaluation of the regional health departments of são paulo state, Brazil
Marco Antonio Catussi Paschoalotto, João Luiz Passador, Lilian Ribeiro de Oliveira, José Eduardo Ferreira Lopes, Marina Kolland Dantas, Cláudia Souza Passador
    Saude E Sociedade, 2018

  • Mapping Open Innovation: A Bibliometric Review to Compare Developed and Emerging Countries
Alex Fabianne de Paulo, Luísa Cagica Carvalho, Maria Teresa G.V. Costa, Jose Eduardo F. Lopes, Simone V.R. Galina
    Global Business Review, 2017
Business and academic interests in open innovation have increased; however, the evolution of this topic in the emerging countries is unknown. This article aims to provide a bibliometric analysis of open innovation in developed and emerging countries. The research has covered 1,925 articles between the years 2000 and 2014 in Web of Science (WoS) database. The terms ‘open innovation’, ‘user innovation’, ‘cumulative innovation, ‘trading know-how’, ‘mass innovation’, ‘distributed innovation’, ‘innovative cooperation’ and ‘collaborative innovation’ have been selected as research keywords, considering their presence in the title, abstract or based on the keywords of the articles. The countries were divided into two groups (developed countries, i.e., G7, and emerging countries, i.e., Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa [BRICS]) depending on the degree of research maturity described in their studies on open innovation. Data analyses have revealed a significant increase in the research on open innovation in the past years. However, it was found that a huge discrepancy exists between the two groups on the number of publications and citations. This study confirms, through a bibliometric analysis, some differences which could be found between the two groups and their influence on the reversal of this scenario, which indirectly affects the development of the emerging countries. It was also found that the groups G7 or BRICS are not statistically important factors for the further development of open innovation research. Analyzing individually, G7 countries have greater relevance in the conduction of studies on open innovation, whereas the BRICS countries are still at an embryonic stage of research on this topic.
