The present research aimed at investigating the existence of associations between the factors promoting the strategic alignment of Information Technology (IT) and the success of IT projects. IT projects carried out in a public company in the Brazilian electricity sector from 2015 to 2018 were taken as the locus of the study. The research had a descriptive nature, used the quantitative method and a survey with 144 respondents from the company's business and IT areas. The key findings indicate that the success of IT projects depends on both the social dynamics between IT and business teams, as well as the intellectual/strategic alignment of IT plans, resources and priorities with the overall business objectives. This research contributes by providing insights into the aspects of strategic alignment and their influence on project success. It offers practical guidance for organizations in managing IT projects and aligning them with business objectives. While the study focuses on a specific Brazilian public company, further research is needed to validate the findings across different industries and contexts. Overall, this research enhances our understanding of the relationship between strategic alignment, IT project success, and provides a foundation for future studies in this area.

Regepe Entrepreneurship and Small Business Journal, 2022
The role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the economy is indisputable. However, these companies face great challenges to continue operating. Among them is the use of IT resources and the return on investments made. Using agency theory as a theoretical lens, this article aims to assess the relationship between the strategic use of IT in small and medium-sized companies and the IT governance mechanisms used in the context. From a survey of 68 companies in the service sector, it was possible to identify that relational IT governance mechanisms are more present in the context than structural or procedural mechanisms. It was also possible to identify that information technology, in the context, has a more operational use. Finally, using the Spearman coefficient and the Logistic Regression analyses, it was found that higher strategic levels of IT use led to greater use of governance mechanisms in the three dimensions, structural, procedural, and relational, which corroborates the view that governance is achieved from a mix of formal and informal elements.

Purpose This paper aims to systematize the contextual factors that influence the intention to use citizens and governments-initiated platforms, presenting them as non-functional requirements (NFRs), to facilitate their understanding to implementers. Design/methodology/approach A systematic mapping of the literature was done to identify the contextual factors from citizens and governments (C2G) adoption, followed by a survey applied to 938 potential users of this type of technology. The results were analyzed through logistic regression to understand the impact of the contextual factors on the intention to use C2G platforms and then those contextual factors were formalized as NFRs represented by a Softgoal Interdependence Graph. Findings Among the results, the most prominent factors were the influence of the “users perceived contribution” and the “citizens concern about the city conditions”. Finally, some strategies are suggested to help public managers and developers to optimize the factors that have shown to be significant. Practical implications This study can support e-gov policies in the implementation of C2G platforms because several municipalities need assistance in taking actions to foster greater citizens’ engagement. An example of this type of contribution is the indication of the factors of greatest impact in the adoption of use and the indication of paths to be followed if the manager and developers decide to focus on each of them. Originality/value The identification of several contextual factors which influence C2G platforms adoption and their systematization with the purpose of jointly visualizing and evaluating them.
  • Knowledge management, information technology, small and medium sized service enterprises: A multiple case study at recife urban region

Perspectivas Em Ciencia Da Informacao, 2020
