  • Case study on real-time smart meter
Yasha Jyothi M. Shirur, S. Bindu, Jyoti R. Munavalli
Cloud Computing in Smart Energy Meter Management, 2025
The global electricity consumption statistics shows that the energy consumption will be increasing exponentially at a rate faster than expected. In India, electricity demand is rapidly growing and by 2030 it is expected to double. The statistics given by electricity generation in India shows that energy generation is almost stable, and in the future there will be shortage of energy and it may be difficult to meet the energy requirement. The nation runs on electricity; thus, conserving energy is important. To fulfil this energy demand, the government is planning to provide the best solution to overcome this unavoidable situation by monitoring the energy consumption using smart meters and also to detect power theft. For the government, one of the main issues is power theft. Existing techniques are insufficient to identify power theft, and there is a great need for smart systems that can both identify power theft and provide transformer health monitoring and protection. It is imperative that we develop such a smart system. It is very essential to save energy and there is a huge requirement for smart energy meters to be monitored continuously for power consumption and power theft. However, energy consumption may be monitored by the smart energy monitoring system which needs an intelligent energy monitoring technique. In spite of having excess power producing capability, few places lack the necessary infrastructure to provide electricity to everyone who needs it. In recent years, many of the jobs in households, industry, and agricultural farms are performed by electrical and electronic appliances due to which there is huge demand for electricity and also reports from the recent statistics show an exponential growth. Many rich and emerging countries are concerned about this since they need to boost the electricity supply immediately. People do not realize how much energy different gadgets use on a daily basis. An electricity meter is a tool used to calculate how much electricity different types of appliances use. Traditional meters that were once in use had the major flaw of requiring human operators to travel from one location to another once a month in order to collect energy meter readings. In addition to requiring more human operators, gathering data from every user takes longer in this scenario. Human error can lead to mistakes in reading, which can also affect billing, and the consumers will be unaware of their daily power usage. So, to reduce manpower and time, automatic electricity measurement devices should be used. In both home and commercial uses, electronic energy meters have replaced traditional electromechanical meters in order to save wear and tear. There should be greater emphasis on comprehending consumption patterns because power usage is rising daily. We need to have efficient electricity consumption techniques which portray the consumer to reduce their power consumption, which further helps the government to avoid excess usage of power. The goal of this work is to build a circuit that assists the user in monitoring their electrical energy usage and identifying instances of power theft. This system smartly gets the meter reading based on the requirement so that there is no need for the meter reader to visit each customer's place for the consumed energy data collection and it helps the users by alerting them about the billing status and unit consumption. The consumer is able to check the status of his load while sitting in any part of the world by short message service (SMS) and the user can keep track of his/her power usage. In this work, the user can set the threshold value as per day basis or as per hour basis according to his/her requirements. When the threshold value is reached, SMS is sent to the user. The user can change the threshold value whenever he/she wants. The bill will be sent to particular number that is registered via global system for mobile communications (GSM) module and it is also displayed on the meter. So, the user will be having the control of his/her power usage and thus avoiding the over usage of power. This further helps the government to reduce the unusual power usage and thus saves energy. This work also involves the development of a transformer based health system and power theft detection system that can monitor oil levels in transformers, identify dynamic temperature variations, and notify BESCOM officials of any attempts by intruders to steal power through various IoT-enabled means.

Brain tumor statistics are alarming and varied. Brain tumor detection can drastically aid in improving patient care, quality of life, and survival rates. This work presents brain tumor detection and classification and compares various convolutional neural network (CNN). The dataset employed 1 contains images from four tumor classes: glioma, meningioma, pituitary tumor, and no-tumor. CNN models like AlexNet, a custom-designed CNN, ResNet-50, and VGG16 are trained and then tested on the dataset, that comprises of 7,061 images. The performance of each architecture is evaluated based on classification accuracy, computational cost, and overall generalization capability. Results indicate that ResNet-50 model demonstrated the highest accuracy of 98.78%, making it a strong candidate for efficient brain tumor classification. This research yields significant contributions to the understanding of CNN architectures in medical image analysis, offering recommendations for future advancements [1]-[2]. Notably, it presents a comparative assessment of four architectures, thereby expanding the existing literature and addressing a previously unexplored research question [10].

Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Intelligent and Innovative Technologies in Computing Electrical and Electronics Iitcee 2025, 2025
In contemporary society, it is pertinent to address the feature of the Urban Air Mobility (UAM), a new mode of urban transport, whereby unmanned aerial vehicles transport people and goods with the view to rendering relief to ground traffic congestion. However, challenging as it may be, the deployment of the UAVs within the confines of the urban built environment is complex. In this systematic review, we provide state-of-the-art developments found in multi-UAV path planning for UAM. We highlight the different aspects of navigation strategies, cooperative algorithms, optimization methods, as well as collision avoidance techniques over the years. In total, we conducted analyses on thirty recent studies, such as those that deal with the combination of machine learning, bio-inspired algorithms, and other environmental-induced factors involved in the path planning process. The review results exhibit significant advances in navigation-aware planning, cooperative systems, advanced optimization techniques, and real-alive applications. However, while all these have been achieved, adaptations in real-time, dynamic environment management, and the integration of learning-based methods with conventional control methods are challenges that have continued to be faced. Future research will propose directions to fill in these gaps to further the progress towards developing efficacious, safe, and sustainable urban air transportation systems.
