Political Science and International Relations
Istanbul Commerce University

Valiyeva specializes in regional security, economic integration, protracted conflicts in post-Soviet Europe, and Eurasia. Her current project focuses on the multi-dimensional impact of China’s rise on the Central Asian Turkish Republics and conceptualization of ideational and rational aspects of the ‘China perception’ in the region. She also works on the project which elaborates on the linkages between the conflict transformation and inter-regionalism with a specific focus on the post-Soviet ‘in-between’ states (Eastern Partnership countries).

Her most recent publications include a chapter on Moldova’s breakaway Transnistria for a book project with Lexington Books entitled The Post-Soviet Conflicts: The Thirty Years’ Crisis and a paper on the EU-Russia confrontation in terms of the conflicting neighborhood policies and regional order perspectives for an edited volume entitled Crises in the 21st Century: States in the Transforming International System.
