A NOVEL HYBRID DEPOSITION APPROACH FOR SILVER SELENIDE THIN FILMS: A VIEW ON STRUCTURAL, MORPHOLOGICAL, OPTICAL, THICKNESS, AND LUMINESCENCE CHARACTERIZATION N. MANIKANDAN, M. KAVITHA, N. KARTHICK KUMAR, V. KAVITHA, M. MANIKANDAN, M. MEENAKSHI Surface Review and Letters, 2026 A novel approach that comprises the coprecipitation method, a chemical method, and thermal evaporation method under high vacuum, a physical method, was designed to synthesize silver selenide thin films and coat them on two different substrates, viz, glass and Fluorine-doped Tin Oxide (FTO). The characterizations were performed on the powder and the thin film Ag 2 Se samples. X-Ray Diffractomete (XRD) analysis showed the enhanced structural properties in Ag 2 Se-coated FTO samples from the structural metrics and the well-defined, sharp peaks in its diffraction profile. The morphological analysis showed rod-shaped Ag 2 Se particles and the changes in morphology in thin films. UV–Vis spectroscopy analysis showed the variation in band gap, extinction coefficient, and refractive index of the samples. Luminescence properties of the samples showed an intense peak in the visible region around 500[Formula: see text]nm. The elemental composition was confirmed from Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) data. The thickness of the samples was found to be 319[Formula: see text]nm.
Comprehensive perspectives: fabrication, luminescence, and in-vitro properties of Tm3+-doped SrS V. Kavitha, M. Prema Rani, D. Sivaganesh Materials Research Innovations, 2025 In this study, the Tm3+-doped SrS samples were synthesised using the sol–gel method and investigated their luminescence and in-vitro characteristics. The structural analysis confirmed the monoclinic crystalline structure, with evident incorporation of Tm3+ ions into the SrS lattice. Optical band gap energies were determined to be in the range of 3.94–4.05 eV. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements revealed visible red emission (around 640 nm) originating from the1G4 → 3F4 transition of Tm3+ ions within the SrS lattice. In-vitro analysis demonstrated enhanced hemocompatibility resulting from thulium doping. The biocompatibility, combined with visible emission characteristics, indicates promising applications in bioimaging. This research sheds light on the synthesis and characterisation of Tm3+-doped SrS samples, highlighting their potential for bioimaging and other related fields.
Delving into the Structural, Optical, and Morphological Properties of AgBr Nanoparticles Synthesized by Chemical Precipitation N Manikandan, M Kavitha, V Kavitha, N Karthick Kumar, M Manikandan Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2025 Silver Bromide (AgBr) nanoparticles are made utilizing the chemical precipitation technique. Structural metrics of samples like crystallite size, dislocation density, and lattice strain were determined from the diffraction data. The band gap was determined as 4.65 eV based on the Tauc plot constructed using absorption data. Emission and excitation spectra showed the luminescence behavior of the sample in the green band of the visible region. The colorimetric properties of the sample were also analyzed. Morphological analysis confirmed that AgBr particles were rod-shaped. TEM analysis confirmed the nanocrystalline nature of the samples. EDAX analysis confirms the elements present in the sample. This study emphasizes that the synthesized nanoparticles would be a promising photochromic material.
Assessing the Morphological, Optical, and Structural Characteristics of Barium Zirconate Synthesized via Precipitation Technique N. Karthick Kumar, M. Kavitha, V. Kavitha, G. Veera Kumar, Y. Saiprasath, J. Kowsalya Devi Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2025 The precipitation technique was adopted to obtain the barium zirconate powder sample. The samples undergo further heating to 180°C and 220°C for annealing. The annealed and non-annealed samples were compared to investigate how annealing affects the samples. XRD was performed on the samples for structure analysis. The sample displayed a cubic structure, and the structural metrics derived from the XRD data indicated that annealing improved the crystallinity of the samples. UV-Vis spectroscopy was adopted to measure the sample’s band gap energy (Eg). The Tauc plot from the UV absorption data revealed an average direct Eg of 3.96 eV. Luminescence analysis shows intense luminescence in the green band of the visible zone. The CIE diagram constructed using PL data showed a shift in the chromaticity coordinates of the samples on the annealing temperature. Elements such as Ba, Zr, and O were present in the EDX spectra confirming the formation of Barium Zirconate without impurity. Surface Morphology was analyzed from SEM. SEM micrograph showed that the sample has a rod shape and the morphology changes on annealing were observed. The samples with good structural, optical, morphological, and luminescence characteristics would be used to fabricate good optoelectronic devices.
UNVEILING THE IMPACT OF ANNEALING ON CHEMICAL BATH DEPOSITION-SYNTHESIZED CALCIUM ZIRCONATE THIN-FILMS: STRUCTURAL, MORPHOLOGICAL, OPTICAL, CHEMICAL COMPOSITION, AND LUMINESCENT CHARACTERISTICS N. KARTHICK KUMAR, M. KAVITHA, V. KAVITHA, P. PANDI Surface Review and Letters, 2024 The chemical bath deposition method (CBD) was used to create thin films of calcium zirconate on a glass substrate. After that, the samples were annealed for an hour at three different temperatures: [Formula: see text]C, [Formula: see text]C, and [Formula: see text]C. The structural parameters of the samples like lattice strain, dislocation density and crystallite size were calculated from XRD analysis. The lattice strain was found to be very low. The crystallite size confirms the nano-size of the synthesized sample. From UV analysis, the optical energy direct bandgap was calculated in the range of 3.98–4.16[Formula: see text]eV. A higher annealing temperature of [Formula: see text]C causes the thin film’s bandgap to diminish, confirming the calcium zirconate thin film’s broad bandgap characteristics. From SEM analysis, morphology, and adhesive nature was analyzed, and from AFM analysis, the grain size of the sample was found to be in 300[Formula: see text]nm.
