I am an Evolutionary Biologist working on a broad range of scientific questions. Our research integrates different areas such as phylogenetics, molecular biodiversity, molecular evolution, function prediction, among others. Our teaching pedagogy applies methods to develop critical thinking and decision making. Our phylosophy is based on strong ethical values to support diversity and a more inclusive society. Together we may create a susteainable planet.
EDUCATION
I have a degree in Biological Sciences with a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), a Master's degree in Biochemistry, and a PhD. degree in Genetics from the University of São Paulo (USP). I completed three postdoctoral internships in the United States, two at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL, Woods Hole) and one at the Louisiana State University (LSU, Baton Rouge), working with functional genomics and molecular evolution, corresponding to 6.5 years of professional experience abroad.
