  • The effect of family empowerment on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women
Ika Mardiyanti, Aldilia Wyasti Pratama, Lailatul Khusnul Rizki, Esty Puji Rahayu
Healthcare in Low Resource Settings, 2024
Empowering families can enhance their ability to detect high-risk pregnancies early, which can improve the health status of pregnant women. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the family empowerment model on the hemoglobin levels of pregnant women. It employed a quasi-experimental method with a cross-sectional study approach, implementing a family empowerment intervention to examine its impact on the health of pregnant women. Sampling was conducted using probability sampling with simple random sampling, resulting in 60 pregnant women divided equally into an intervention group and a control group. The independent variable was the family empowerment model intervention, and the dependent variable was the hemoglobin level of the pregnant women. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with the Wilcoxon test statistic, which indicated a significant effect (p=0.000) of the family empowerment model on the hemoglobin levels of pregnant women. The statistical analysis revealed that the intervention group’s hemoglobin levels showed a significant difference (p<0.05) before and after the intervention. In summary, the treatment involving the family empowerment model significantly affected the hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. After the intervention, nearly all respondents demonstrated increased family involvement in maintaining and caring for pregnant women, facilitating the early detection of high-risk pregnancies, and contributing to increased hemoglobin levels among these women.

Healthcare in Low Resource Settings, 2024
In social life and global health, infertility is common. History of abdominal surgery, body mass index (BMI), endometriosis, menstrual history, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) have not been fully explained as female infertility factors. This study examined infertility causes at ASHA in vitro fertilization Primasatya Husada Citra (PHC) Hospital Surabaya. This quantitative study was cross-sectional. In May-July 2023, 82 childbearing-age women with infertility issues visited the hospital and completed questionnaires. Description and analysis were performed using the Wilcoxon rank test to evaluate menstrual history, BMI, PCOS, endometriosis, and abdominal surgery history in relation to infertility. Infertility was statistically associated with abdominal surgery history (P=0.008), BMI (P=0.000), endometriosis diagnosis (P=0.000), and PCOS (P=0.000). Women with abdominal surgery, endometriosis, and PCOS had significant infertility. Women’s infertility can be caused by ovulation disorders, tubal and pelvic disorders, or uterine disorders, but one-third of cases are unexplained. Infertility treatment may benefit from addressing abdominal surgery history, BMI, endometriosis, and PCOS. Early intervention and targeted care based on these determinants may improve fertility outcomes and reduce unexplained infertility.

Lailatul Khusnul Rizki, Nur Masruroh, Esty Puji Rahayu
    Bali Medical Journal, 2023
Introduction: Adaption is required in responding to changes that can overcome the community's physical and mental health concerns, particularly adaption of pregnant women in preparation for childbirth during COVID-19 to minimize maternal mortality in Indonesia. Pregnancy during a pandemic like this may increase the risk of anxiety disorders in pregnant women. As a result, every individual must have a positive affirmation. Method: The purpose of this study is to learn more about the impact of self-affirmation and self-positive imagery on anxiety disorders in pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic. A quasi-experimental design was adopted in this investigation, comprising pre- and post-test groups. There are 52 people in the population. Sampling employs the Probability sampling approach in conjunction with simple random sampling. The intervention was performed four times. The respondent's degree of anxiety was assessed using the perinatal anxiety screening scale (PASS) questionnaire. Result: According to the findings, the average anxiety level prior to the intervention was 35.59, and the average anxiety level after the session was 18.72. Implementing self-affirmation and positive visualization has a significant (p = 0.000) effect on anxiety. Conclusion: During the pandemic, self-affirmation and positive imagery should be supplemented by a commitment to increasing positive thinking before to childbirth.

    Bali Medical Journal, 2023
Introduction: Preeclampsia is an important problem in obstetrics because it is a pregnancy complication often found and results in high morbidity and mortality in both mother and baby. Preeclampsia is one of the complications of pregnancy that needs to be detected or monitored for symptoms, because in addition to being risky for the mother, it will also have an impact on the occurrence of preterm birth and even further impact, namely fetal death in the womb. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of CRP and leukocyte examination to detect preeclampsia. Method: This research was conducted at the Jagir Health Center Surabaya in March-July 2022. The research used case control with 30 pregnant women as samples divided into 15 as a control group of normal pregnant women and 15 pregnant women with preeclampsia. Result: The results showed that of the 15 respondents who had preeclampsia more than half (60%) had high leukocyte and CRP levels, the remaining less than half (40%) had normal CRP and leukocyte levels. While in the control group more than half (67%) had normal CRP and leukocyte levels and less than half (33%) had normal CRP and leukocyte levels. The results of data analysis showed p value 0.001 (<0.005), which means there is a relationship between the CRP and leukocytes on the incidence of preeclampsia. Conclusion: Examination of CRP levels and leukocyte count proved effective for detecting the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women. It is expected that pregnant women carry out routine pregnancy checks and health workers are expected to routinely carry out early detection to prevent pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia

Lailatul Khusnul Rizki, Nur Masruroh, Yati Isnaini Safitri
    Bali Medical Journal, 2023
Background: Afterpain is the perception of pain, manifested by cramps and heartburn caused by uterine contractions in the postpartum period or puerperium. Afterpain can cause the postpartum period to be less comfortable. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of heat patch on afaterpain levels during the puerperium at PMB Ainun Mufidah. Methods: This study used an experimental design with a pre-post-test group using postpartum mothers who gave birth at PMB Ainun Mufidah. All samples that matched inclusion criteria were instructed to wear a heat patch by placing it on the abdomen for 8 hours/day and being observed for 3 consecutive days. The pain level assessment was done by a numerical rating of the pain scale before and after the treatment. The data was collected and analyzed using SPSS ver. 20. Results: 24 postpartum mothers were included in this study, mostly aged 20-35 years. The highest level of afterpain reduction was found on the second postpartum day. The paired t-test showed a significant difference in afterpain levels between pre and post-treatment (p<0,001). Conclusion: There was a significant difference in afterpain levels before and after giving heat patches to postpartum mothers.

  • ANALYSIS OF FACTOR AFFECTING INFANT MORTALITY RATE (IMR) IN EAST JAVA USING MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION
Weike Retno Palupi, Lailatul Khusnul Rizki
    Jurnal Biometrika Dan Kependudukan, 2020
Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is one of the important indicators in public health. Indonesia still has a relatively high IMR compared to the neighboring countries. Based on the Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (IDHS) in 2012, IMR in East Java reached 25.50 deaths per 1000 births. IMR decline occurred during 2012 to 2015. Achievement depends on the factors that influence it. This study aims to create a model of IMR based on maternal and external factors in East Java. The method used was a non-reactive study using 38 districts/cities as sample units in East Java, which came from Central Bureau of Statistics secondary data in 2015. Statistical analysis used multiple linear regression. The results showed the independent variables together affected the IMR (p-value = 0,000 <0.05), but partially influenced by the age of the first married mother (p-value = 0,000 <0.05) and the helper delivery of non-medical personnel (p-value = 0.014 <0.05). The conclusion of this study is the regression equation model for IMR in East Java in 2015, which is IMR = 1,064 + 1,319 * (age of first marriage) + 0.439 * (helper of non-medical births). Suggestions for the Government of East Java Province to implement strategies so that infant mortality cases can be reduced.
