I am a dentist and currently a doctoral student at the Health Sciences Program of the Federal University of São João del-Rey (UFSJ), Minas Gerais, Brazil. Our research project aims to investigate the possible association between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in the oral cavity and stomach of patients both with and without gastric symptoms. Our study seeks to identify H. pylori in the oral biofilm of different parts of the mouth through Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and to assess the presence of dental calculus. I think it is appropriate to point out that I am currently a professor of Microbiology and Oral Pathology, Dental Radiology, and Immunology for undergraduate students at a private Faculty of Dentistry, in addition to teaching Scientific Methodology for postgraduate students in Dentistry at a Brazilian Dental Association, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I conceived and implemented the specialization course on “Important laboratory tests for dental practice” together two other professor
