Dr. P. Malathy is serving in teaching positions in various engineering colleges for 18-plus years. She completed her Ph.D. in the faculty of EE in 2019. She is a university (Anna University, Chennai), second rank holder, in PG in 2007. Dr. P. Malathy bagged first-class with distinction in both her under graduation and graduation. She has supervised many UG and PG student projects. She has co-authored two books, book chapters, and many conference and journal publications with SCI and SCOPUS-indexed journals. She has participated in many FDPs, STTP, and GIAN courses organized by NITs, IITs, and IISC. She is a reviewer in Electric Power Components and Systems (Taylor and Francis). She is an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Information Engineering and Applied Computing, Whioce Publishing Pvt. Ltd. Singapore. She is a recognized research supervisor at Anna University Chennai and guiding Ph.D. scholars. She has delivered guest lectures in many topics in various institutions

Air quality prediction using a u-net inspired 1d-cnn with attention mechanisms Global Nest Journal, 2025 <p style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;text-indent:36.0pt;">Air quality prediction is crucial for environmental monitoring and public health. This work presents a new prediction model for air quality prediction using a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D- CNN). The proposed model resembles U-Net architecture which is used in image segmentation tasks popularly. The proposed model uses the strength of U-Net’s encoder-decoder design to capture both local and global features effectively. To enhance the model's performance, we integrate attention mechanisms to focus on the most relevant features. In addition, the self-calibrated convolutions are applied to adjust the convolutional filters to improve feature representation. The parameters of the proposed model are fine-tuned using the Frilled Lizard Optimization (FLO)&nbsp;<span> </span>algorithm for optimal performance. Experimental results show that the proposed model significantly outperforms traditional methods in terms of validation loss and Mean Square Error rates.</p>

It covers the advantages of bidirectional power flow, the basic ideas behind how AC-DC converters work, and important issues like energy management, grid synchronisation, and power quality. It also covers cutting-edge ideas that have been suggested in literature and by business operations. Sinusoidal Tracking Method for Cascaded Multilevel Inverter fed Induction Motor Drive M. Hindu Sree Reddy, N. Susheela, P. Malathy 2021 IEEE International Conference on Emerging Trends in Industry 4 0 Eti 4 0 2021, 2021 A three-phase enhanced H-bridge multi-level inverter topology with reduced number of switches and voltage sources is implemented in this paper for thirteen-level and seventeen-level. The algorithm of sinusoidal tracking is employed for enhanced H-bridge multilevel inverter to acquire the output voltage with minimum THD. This is achieved by calculating the switching time for various switches that are employed in this topology. An analysis is made for induction motor drive using this algorithm for thirteen-level and seventeen-level multi-level inverters using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The benefits of this technique compared to the conventional techniques include less number of switches and simple control.
