Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science, 2026
Over the past four decades, the global surge in diabetes and obesity has given rise to the term “diabesity,” reflecting the strong connection between type 2 diabetes and obesity. This link is correlated with heightened risks of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and stroke. In light of this escalating health crisis, medicinal plants and natural products, which have long been used in traditional medicine systems, have attracted growing interest for their potential to address diabetes and obesity. This review highlights scientific evidence from preclinical and clinical studies on the efficacy of medicinal plants in treating diabetes and obesity. It focuses on the phytoconstituent responsible for these benefits and supports their traditional therapeutic use while comparing with common therapeutic interventions. Additionally, the review delves into the mechanism of action through which these plants demonstrate their benefits and explores modern formulations that fuse traditional knowledge with current healthcare practices. As diabesity continues to rise globally, understanding the role of medicinal plants in managing this dual condition offers valuable insights into alternative and complementary approaches for comprehensive healthcare. - Combination of the First-in-Class Imipridone ONC201 and Standard Anticancer Therapies as a Rational Approach for Therapeutic Benefit

Current Issues in Molecular Biology, 2025
The development of drugs for cancer treatment faces critical challenges due to the heterogeneity in cancers, metastatic nature of the disease, lack of efficacy, toxicity, and drug resistance. This makes it quite important to understand the complexities of cancer as well as the limitations of druggable targets. ONC201 (also known as dordaviprone/TIC10/ModeysoTM), a first-in-class member of the imipridone family, has been shown to kill cancer cells selectively. Recently, it has received FDA approval as the first and only treatment for recurrent H3K27M-mutant diffuse midline glioma. The unique pharmacophore, favorable therapeutic index, ability to induce TRAIL and the integrated stress response (ISR), activation of natural killer cells, and ability to diffuse across the blood–brain barrier are the unique characteristics of ONC201. ONC201 has shown effectiveness against various cancers, and this has been evident in many preclinical studies. ONC201 as a single agent, although useful, has some limitations, which could be addressed by using combination strategies. ONC201 has shown synergism with other drugs, leading to greater tumor cell death or reduced tumor growth. Next-generation imipridones, viz. ONC206 and ONC212, are more potent analogs of ONC201 and exhibit similar characteristics. In this review, we discuss the therapeutic potential of ONC201 and its analogs using combination strategies across different cancers. - Liquid biopsy in pancreatic cancer: technologies and diagnostic biomarkers

Introduction and aim. Ciclopirox has been treating fungal infections for decades. Recent studies suggest ciclopirox may be repurposed to treat cancer, viral infections, and neurological disorders. Ciclopirox exerts anticancer by inhibiting multiple pathways of cancer cell growth and survival and anti-viral actions by reducing viral replication and altering the host immunological response to viral infection. Recent research suggests that ciclopirox may protect against neurodegenerative illnesses including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. This narrative review shows ciclopirox’s potential to treat cancer, viral infections, and neurological diseases. Material and methods. Current relevant research publications focused on ciclopirox and its repurposing medicinal potential, therefore a well-designed technique was used to find them. „Ciclopirox”, „Anti-fungal”, „Anti-cancer”, „Repurposing”, and „Therapeutic potential” were used to search PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Google Scholar. Analysis of literature. Ciclopirox may reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, which may cause several illnesses. Overall, the repurposing of ciclopirox for the treatment of cancer, viral infections, and neurodegenerative disorders represents a promising avenue of research that warrants further investigation. Conclusion. It was concluded that CPX and olamine derivatives as outstanding antifungal medications, as well as provide information on ongoing research to use them for other illnesses. - Resveratrol and Its Role in the Management of B-Cell Malignancies—A Recent Update
