  • Image classification of fabric defects using ResNet50 deep transfer learning in FastAI
Erwin Sitompul, Vincent Leonhart Setiawan, Hendra Jaya Tarigan, Mia Galina
Bulletin of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, 2024
One of the most common issues in manufacturing is the inability to persistently maintain good quality, which can lead to product defects and customer complaints. In this research, the novel implementation of deep learning for fabric defect classification in FastAI was proposed. The residual network structure of ResNet50 was trained through transfer learning to classify the data set that contained five classes of fabric images: good, burned, frayed, ripped, and stained. A novel approach to constructing the data set was undertaken by compiling randomly downloaded fabric images within the aforementioned five classes with a broad variety from the internet. The effect of the two splitting methods in dividing the data into training and validation data was investigated. Random splitting divides the data into random class proportions, while stratified splitting maintains the original class proportions. Models were tested offline with unseen data and reached a mean accuracy of 92.5% for the 2-class model and 70.3% for the 5-class model. Based on the attained accuracy and precision, no splitting method was superior to the other. The feasibility of the system’s online implementation was evaluated by integrating a smartphone camera to capture and classify fabric samples, with a mean accuracy of 75.6% for the 5-class model.
  • Development and Analysis of Outage Probability and Achievable Rate for UAV Relay Implementation in Disaster Areas
Mia Galina, Muhamad Asvial, Muhammad Suryanegara, Naufan Raharya
    Journal of Communications, 2023
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) coupled with wireless networks have offered the potential for forthcoming mobile communications networks. The UAV-assisted wireless communication technology approach is an option for maintaining communication services, one of which is for disaster areas. This study aims to investigate the deployment of UAV-assisted communications in disaster areas. The simulation in this work is focused on investigating the relationship between the UAV’s height or radius and the outage probability and achievable rate. We identifies a UAV that behaves as a relay in a disaster area connected to two users, identified several critical parameters, such as UAV height, radius, and SNR value, and investigated the impact of changing each of them on outage probability and achievable rate values. Finally, we simulates the effect of these critical parameters on outage probability and achievable rate to maximize the use of UAV-assisted communication as a disaster management solution. According to the simulation results, as the signal to noise (SNR) increases, the probability of network communication interference decreases, and the achievable level increases. Moreover, increasing the range of UAVs can improve communication performance by reducing the probability of outages and increasing the achievable rate.
  • A Bibliometric Analysis of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Implementation in Cellular Network

Proceedings 11th Electrical Power Electronics Communications Control and Informatics Seminar Eeccis 2022, 2022
With many opportunities for UAV application in the cellular sector, the potential for research development related to UAV implementation is also a fascinating topic to be observed. The user equipment in a cellular network may be a UAV. As aerial base stations that can establish connections between ground nodes A and B, as wireless backhaul to the cellular network, or as support to offer communication services to areas after natural disasters, cellular network operators may use UAVs. The research gives a representative insight into UAV implementation in the cellular sector is fascinating and challenging. Considering that this topic still has significant development opportunities in the future, more upcoming research is needed to provide an overview of the implementation of UAVs in the cellular field, which is visualized in the distribution of each research topic. This work aims to analyze the scientific production of the last twenty years on using UAVs in cellular networks. The primary goal is to stress issues that have not yet been publicly discussed as a future research opportunity. We applied bibliometric techniques and analyzed the literature on Unmanned Aerial vehicles (UAV) or drone implementation in the cellular network to summarize and assess previous research and visualize each research topic's distribution.
  • Simulation Analysis of Partial Transmit Sequence on Palm Date Leaf Clipping for PAPR Value Reduction
Vincent, Antonius Suhartomo, Joni Welman Simatupang, Mia Galina
2021 9th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Icoict 2021, 2021
FFT, as the key concept in the OFDM system, produces a high PAPR value. Several techniques can be implemented to reduce it, such as the Palm Date Leaf clipping and the Partial Transmit Sequence. Previous researchers have evaluated each technique individually. This paper proposes to evaluate the PAPR value as the effect of combining the Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) with the Palm Date Leaf (PDL) clipping technique. The evaluation is done with several modulation techniques, such as QPSK, 8-PSK, 16-PSK, 8-QAM, and 16-QAM. Since low PAPR performance is not advantageous if the signal’s BER value worsens, thus the evaluation also considers the BER performance. In this case, the Authors focus on the BER performance over the AWGN channel. The result shows that in all of the scenarios, the PTS technique could improve the signal’s BER and PAPR performance for low CR values such as 5 dB and 7 dB. Additionally, for higher CR values such as 10 dB and 20 dB, the BER performance is similar to the normal OFDM signal. Even so, it provides a consistent PAPR reduction of approximately 3 dB. Do note that the PAPR is evaluated at CCDF of 10−3. This way, the PTS technique always provides an improvement in signal BER performance. As for the PAPR performance, the PTS technique can improve all cases except for 8-QAM and 16-QAM signals with clipping technique at low clipping ratio such as 5 dB. However, the PTS technique still requires Side Information (SI), and it has high computational complexity.
  • Prototype of Postpaid Electricity and Water Usage Monitoring System
Mia Galina, Muhammad Wahyu Ramadhani, Joni Welman Simatupang
Icsecc 2019 International Conference on Sustainable Engineering and Creative Computing New Idea New Innovation Proceedings, 2019
This paper presents a prototype design and implementation of home users' postpaid electricity and water usage monitoring system. The system design is consisted of four main components such as Arduino UNO microcontroller and Bluetooth module, current and water flow sensors, RGB LED, and alarm buzzer. Current and water flow sensors will measure the current and water flow driven in installation. Measurement data will be sent to Arduino UNO as microcontroller. Arduino microcontroller will be reading and processing the data. If the current and water usage exceeds the predetermined limits, then microcontroller through Bluetooth module will trigger the RGB LED to light up and then buzzer will sound as a warning to notify users. Three different situations have been applied to test the device performance. The first two is for each electricity and water usage limits. And the third is when both utilities are combined simultaneously. Testing results show that for the first two, acceptable limits of electricity and water usage are at highest points (900 W and 3 L). But, for the third is varied according to the combination between electricity and water usage limits. These results showed that the prototype can be used as an energy monitoring system to warn and notify home users from monthly overdue consumption fees of postpaid electricity and water usage. But, this prototype still needs much improvements to be ready applied as a commercial device.
