Exploring emotional and technological drivers of e-learning continuance intention among university students Minh Pham, Phuc Xuan Thi Nguyen, Ngan Ngoc Trinh Discover Education, 2025 In the context of rapid digitalization of higher education, understanding the psychological and technological factors that influence students’ intention to continue studying online becomes essential. Models such as the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB), while effective in explaining behavior, often overlook emotional factors, including enjoyment. This factor is especially important in the context of Vietnamese culture, where subjective emotions and experiences can significantly influence learning motivation. Therefore, this study was conducted to fill that gap. This study investigates the influence of experience, technological innovation, perceived ease of use, and self-efficacy on students’ attitudes and intentions to continue using e-learning systems. It also examines the moderating role of perceived enjoyment. Based on data collected from 510 university students in Ho Chi Minh City via an online survey using a judgmental sampling approach based on predefined criteria, the analysis was conducted using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The findings reveal that experience and technological innovativeness have a positive impact on perceived ease of use and self-efficacy, significantly enhancing students’ attitudes toward e-learning. These attitudes subsequently predict their continuance intention. Thus, this study adds an important emotional dimension to the study of technology acceptance behavior – an aspect that has been overlooked in traditional theoretical models. In addition, the results indicate that although enjoyment can increase learning interest, if pushed too far, it can deviate from learning goals and lead to a decline in the intention to continue learning. This finding not only contributes to the expansion of the theory but also provides a practical basis for designing future digital education content that balances emotional and academic factors.
Leveraging digital human resource management to optimize organizational performance in Vietnam Suong Huynh Thi Thu, Minh Pham, Hai-Nam Luc Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, 2025 Although numerous studies have examined the effects of digital human resource management on organizational performance, the findings have been inconsistent due to the influence of contextual factors. It motivates continued exploration of whether businesses that utilize digital technology to manage people will boost their performance. Data were collected from 360 Vietnamese enterprises using digitalization in human resource management. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the path model. Based on research results, there exists a significant correlation between digital human resource management and organizational performance under a mechanism of mediating as well as moderating. Notably, the findings show that personnel strategy moderates the relationship between digital human resource management and employee performance ( β = −0.081) at a significance level of 0.1. This result indicates that personnel strategy does not impact the relationship between digital human resource management and organizational performance. Additionally, the study proposes managerial implications regarding the role of digital human resource management in influencing employee engagement and performance as mediating, which emphasizes their participation toward efficiency. Furthermore, the research raises awareness of the importance of digital human resource management in the context of the greenization process and innovation to enhance performance and execution capabilities in an era based on the digitalization landscape.
The interplay of incivility, peer support, and psychological capital in higher education Minh Pham, LanAnh Thuy Nguyen, Anh Tram Tuong Nguyen, Anh Van Nguyen Scientific Reports, 2025 In the context of increasing incivility in university environments, especially in Asian countries such as Vietnam, this study was conducted to clarify the mechanism of incivility's influence on students' academic performance from the conservation of resources theory perspective. The study constructed a mediation-moderation model in which psychological distress and perceived peer support played mediating roles, and psychological capital was a moderator. Data were collected from 266 university students in Vietnam and analyzed using the PLS-SEM method. The results showed that incivility had a direct negative impact on academic performance, while this impact increased through psychological distress and was mitigated by the presence of perceived peer support. In addition, psychological capital played a moderating role in the relationship between incivility and psychological distress, suggesting a protective role for individual psychology in stressful situations. However, psychological capital did not moderate the relationship between perceived peer support and academic performance. The study contributes to COR theory in the context of higher education and suggests interventions to mitigate the negative effects of incivility and enhance student learning outcomes.
The role of environmental concern and sustainable development goals knowledge for sustainable entrepreneurial intention Hao Yen Tran, Trinh Mai Thi Vo, Ngoc Nhu Doan, Duyen My Thi Huynh, Bao Quoc Lam, Minh Pham Discover Sustainability, 2025 In today’s intensifying global economic competition, countries cannot immediately reallocate resources to moderate environmental and societal losses. The imbalance in the distribution of social resources also causes the government to face a series of accompanying social problems. Therefore, sustainable entrepreneurial intention is a suitable indicator for evaluating economic development and environmental concerns. This study aims to assess the relationship between environmental concerns and sustainable entrepreneurial intention through the intersection of planned behavior and social cognitive theory. In addition, the role of knowledge of sustainable development goals in this relationship is also examined. The study used a convenient sampling method to reach 517 students through Google Forms. The results show that environmental concern substantially impacts students’ attitudes more than their outcome expectations. Surprisingly, outcome expectation plays a more critical role in the relationship with sustainable entrepreneurial intention. The results also show that knowledge of sustainable development goals significantly moderates the relationships in the model.
Pathways to subjective well-being: A study of self-acceptance, critical thinking, and stoicism in Vietnamese higher education Minh Pham, LanAnh Thuy Nguyen, Van Khanh Huynh, Uyen Phuong Nguyen Le Acta Psychologica, 2025 Given the growing interest in subjective well-being, especially among university students who face many pressures during the transition to adulthood, this study aimed to explore the intrinsic factors influencing subjective well-being, including self-acceptance, critical thinking, and stoicism. The study aimed to assess the mediating role of stoicism and the moderating role of critical thinking in the relationship between self-acceptance and subjective well-being. Research data were collected using a convenience sampling approach from 729 students after mental skills workshops at several universities, where participants from various disciplines completed an online survey. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results show that self-acceptance directly and positively affected subjective well-being, with stoicism as a mediator that enhanced this relationship by helping students regulate emotions and maintain a positive outlook in challenging situations. Critical thinking is found to play a significant moderating role, enabling students to analyze better and adapt their self-acceptance and stoic attitudes, thus fostering greater subjective well-being. In particular, students with higher levels of critical thinking can better transform self-awareness into constructive actions and maintain emotional stability. The study suggests that these psychological factors should be applied in designing student support programs to improve mental health and well-being in the university environment.
Building Subjective Well-Being Through Resilience: How Trait Emotional Intelligence Shields Students From Depression? Minh Pham, LanAnh Thuy Nguyen, Uyen Phuong Nguyen Le, Van Khanh Huynh, Chi Thao Le Bui Sage Open, 2025 In the modern era, increasing life pressures have placed significant psychological strain on individuals, particularly university students. Many students today exhibit psychological symptoms stemming from academic and life-related challenges. Accordingly, investigating factors influencing subjective well-being offers deeper insight into the psychological mechanisms at play and supports the development of effective interventions for student mental health. This study examines the psychological determinants of subjective well-being among university students, with a particular focus on the roles of trait emotional intelligence and resilience. A quantitative research design was employed, and data from 623 students were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings indicate that resilience is positively associated with both trait emotional intelligence and subjective well-being, while depression acts as a significant negative contributor in these relationships. Additionally, perceived social support was found to positively moderate the relationship between trait emotional intelligence and resilience. Interestingly, contrary to initial expectations, perceived social support did not moderate the link between depression and subjective well-being, a surprising result that warrants further investigation. These findings suggest that individuals with higher levels of emotional intelligence tend to demonstrate greater resilience and lower levels of depression, thereby enhancing their subjective well-being.
Digital competence and digital entrepreneurial intention: A social cognitive approach Bao Quoc Lam, Hao Yen Tran, Kiet Anh Nguyen, Kiet Tuan Nguyen, Minh Pham Entrepreneurial Business and Economics Review, 2025 Objective: This article aims to investigate how digital competence moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial education and digital entrepreneurship intention among university students within the framework of social cognitive career theory. Research Design & Methods: We employed a quantitative approach, utilising a structured questionnaire to collect data from 327 university students over two months. We analysed the data gathered from a diverse sample of students across different academic years using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to test the proposed hypotheses and examine the moderating effect of digital competence on the relationships between entrepreneurial education, self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and digital entrepreneurship intention. Findings: Digital competence has a dual moderating effect on digital entrepreneurship intention. It positively moderates the relationship between outcome expectations and entrepreneurial intention, enhancing students’ confidence in achieving entrepreneurial success. However, it negatively moderates the link between self-efficacy and intention, suggesting that high digital competence may reduce reliance on educationally developed self-efficacy. These findings underscore the nuanced role of digital competence in shaping entrepreneurial intention, challenging the conventional assumption that higher competence unilaterally strengthens entrepreneurial drive. Implications & Recommendations: The study’s limitations include a relatively small sample size and a focus on the role of entrepreneurial education without exploring the mediating effects of cognitive structures like self-efficacy and outcome expectations. Future research should consider larger samples and examine other contextual factors, such as cultural and environmental influences on digital entrepreneurship intention. Educational programs should integrate real-world experiences, adapt content to students’ digital competence, and focus on the entrepreneurship intention process while allowing students to self-develop. Contribution & Value Added: This study is the first to explore the moderating role of digital competence within the social cognitive career theory framework on forming digital entrepreneurship intention among university students. This study advances theoretical understanding and offers practical insights for enhancing digital entrepreneurship education by revealing how digital competence interacts with self-efficacy and outcome expectations. These findings have broader implications for academia and policymakers, emphasising the need for adaptive educational approaches that align with the evolving digital landscape.
How Do Transformational Leadership and Affective Trust Enhance Creativity? Suong Huynh Thi Thu, Minh Pham Emerging Science Journal, 2024 The pressure of competitive higher education has affected most universities, and whether the utilization of human capital as a resource to foster creativity, increase motivation, and boost innovation is an important topic to investigate. This study aims to explore the relationship between the elements of transformational leadership, affective trust, and intrinsic motivation and their impact on creativity to increase the performance of lecturers at Vietnamese universities, where most of them are also creators. Quantitative research is applied with data collected from full-time lecturers at Vietnamese universities from December 2023 to January 2024. The hypothesized correlations were investigated using structural equation modeling on a sample of 311 participants in Vietnam. The findings reveal substantial causal correlations between transformational leadership, affective trust, intrinsic motivation's determinants, and the creativity to improve performance and positive behavior from the lecturers' perspective. These results imply that leaders should focus on the prefix role of transformational leadership, which is the origin of affective trust, intrinsic motivation, and creativity, to raise the standard of higher education. In particular, affective trust needs more attention because it has the most vital mediating role in enhancing the impact of transformational leadership on lecturers' creativity.
