Open Engineering, 2026 The article describes the way of metallurgical wastes processing technology of lead production waste slag processing with the subsequent obtaining of lead and zinc by heat treatment. The analysis of existing technologies was carried out and the relevance of industrial wastes processing was revealed, which proved the necessity of this research. Modern instrumental methods were used in the research, confirming the correctness of the experimental work and the results. On the basis of the experiments carried out with metallurgical wastes it become clear, that they contained toxic metals, being a dangerous source of environmental pollution and at the same time a target material. The technology of lead production slag processing by using a drum furnace with subsequent production of non-ferrous metals is recommended. The thermodynamic patterns of the processes occurring during the processing of lead production slag have been studied and thermodynamic parameters have been determined, especially the value of enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs energy in a heterogeneous system. The developed technology makes it possible efficiently to process the industrial waste slag of lead production. The developed technology is also aimed at reducing of the accumulated industrial waste, which in turn makes it possible to regulate the environmental situation in the region.
An optimized Lagrangian approach to reactive power compensation in nonlinear traction power-supply systems Mirjalil Yakubov, Miraziz Talipov, Usmon Nurullaev Vibroengineering Procedia, 2025 A modified optimization method for reactive power compensation in nonlinear traction power-supply systems is presented. The proposed approach, based on the Lagrange multiplier technique, simultaneously determines the optimal capacity and installation locations of compensating capacitor banks while accounting for existing capacitive reactance and preinstalled devices. Unlike traditional methods, the developed model explicitly considers the nonlinear and time-varying load behavior typical of traction power networks. The objective function minimizes active power losses and total system costs under voltage-quality constraints. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can reduce power losses by up to 30 %, ensuring improved voltage stability and energy efficiency. The approach is computationally efficient and can be integrated into real-time reactive power control systems for traction substations.
Technical and ecological evaluation of a diatomite-based filter strip for cleaning polluted runoff from a railway embankment Oleg Ilyasov, Miraziz Talipov, Islom Khurramov, Mukaddas Tirkasheva Vibroengineering Procedia, 2025 This study presents a technical and ecological evaluation of a diatomite-based filter strip designed to purify polluted surface runoff from a railway embankment. A pilot-scale three-layer structure (1.0 m width, 0.70 m height, slope 1:1.5) was constructed parallel to the embankment. The upper gravel layer dissipates flow and retains coarse solids, the diatomite layer (0.8-2.0 mm) serves as the main sorption–filtration medium for petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs) and fine suspended solids, and the bottom drainage layer provides filtrate collection and sampling. Field observations during rainfall and snowmelt events showed removal efficiencies of 97.5 % for petroleum hydrocarbons and 96.7 % for suspended solids, ensuring compliance with regulatory limits for fishery water bodies. The system operates passively, without external energy, and maintains stable filtration parameters. The results confirm the engineering feasibility and ecological efficiency of diatomite-based filter strips for mitigating hydrocarbon pollution in railway drainage systems.
Environmental protection of railway wastewater using natural diatomite sorbents: development and validation of a three-layer filtration strip Miraziz Talipov, Oleg Ilyasov, Olga Kovaleva, Bakhriddin Begmatov, Zhyrgal Ismailova Vibroengineering Procedia, 2025 The study evaluates the efficiency of a natural diatomite-based sorbent, Diamiks Aqua, for removing petroleum hydrocarbons and suspended solids from railway wastewater. Laboratory tests using a vertical filtration column (0.5 m/h, 30 min contact time) demonstrated up to 98.9 % removal of suspended solids and 99.0 % of petroleum products. A three-layer filtration strip, integrated into railway embankments, provides a reagent-free and energy-efficient treatment process. The proposed design ensures reliable protection of water bodies from diffuse hydrocarbon runoff and contributes to the environmental sustainability of railway transport enterprises.
