Neil P. George is a PhD candidate in the Risk and Disaster Reduction department, his research interest lies in filmmaking processes that enhance the voice of the marginalized especially refugees. Neil has more than 20 years of experience in film production and education and has a broad background in human rights filmmaking, documentary production and creative practice. He has taught for over 13 years, designing and teaching courses in cinematography, directing, editing and film distribution. His focus has been directed towards social projects and the use of film as a means of social change and understanding. He is also interested in interdisciplinary research and has a strong commitment to collaborative learning and guiding students through complex, creative processes. Neil’s current research is based on practice-based methodologies.
