    Retos, 2024
Research on student-athletes' academic performance reveals a complex interplay of factors. Interestingly, few studies have investigated the achievement of student-athletes in both academics and athletics, the two areas in which they are usually evaluated. In this study, we investigated the association between factors that may affect student athlete academic performance with their sports achievement. In this study, 166 students from 20 sport faculties universities within faculty of sports who had at least a provincial sports accomplishment were involved. The factors that were strongly connected with student-athletes' academic achievement were analyzed using a logistic regression analysis. According to this study, there is a considerable correlation between the academic achievement of student athletes, their gender and internet access. It has been found that academic achievement is strongly influenced by students' proficiency in establishing an internet connection significantly impacts their academic performance. In addition, gender makes a major contribution to the prediction of academic grades in student athletes in Indonesia. Athletes may be eligible for specialized academic programs that are intended to help them continue to improve in both their academic and athletic endeavors. As a result, Indonesian universities mandate the establishment of a mentorship center development organization to assist student-athletes. Curriculum modifications may also be implemented in response to the time allotted to students for academic and sports performance.

    Malaysian Journal of Nutrition, 2023
Introduction: Changes in our bodies can cause several problems, particularly for students who are concerned about maintaining an ideal body shape. Many of them try to diet, but their body returns to its previous weight or even increases in weight. Thus, this study aimed to determine the factors that influence the incidence of weight cycling in Indonesian students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This cross-sectional study used purposive sampling to collect data. Three hundred college students from West Java province, Indonesia, participated. Weight cycling was the dependent variable and the independent variables were physical activity, sex, and weight management. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the factors influencing the incidence of weight cycling. Results: Sex, physical activity, skipping meals, and snacking were determinants related to weight cycling incidence. Females had a 0.7 times higher risk of experiencing weight cycling than males. Inactive students were 4.7 times more likely to become weight cyclers, and those who rarely skipped mealtime had lower risk of being weight cyclers. Students who sometimes and always consumed snacks had higher risk of becoming weight cyclers by 3.3 and 2.7 times, respectively, compared to those who rarely consumed snacks. Conclusion: Regular physical activity, not skipping meals, especially breakfast, and practising a healthy diet every day are recommended strategies to avoid weight cycling during a pandemic.
  • Accessibility of Inclusive Sports Facilities for Training and Competition in Indonesia and Malaysia
Mustika Fitri, Nor Eeza Zainal Abidin, Novrizal Achmad Novan, Isti Kumalasari, Fahmil Haris, et al.
    Sustainability Switzerland, 2022
Although the right to participate in sports is recognized in international conventions, accessibility to sports facilities has been cited as barriers to participation. Managers of sports facilities must know the standards that refer to the rules and accessibility to meet the needs of persons with disabilities to participate in sports and to attend sporting events. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the accessibility of sports facilities for training and competition in Indonesia and Malaysia. This study used a qualitative method through focus group discussions. Fifteen focus group discussions were conducted with 90 athletes from eight sports (boccia, goalball, basketball, badminton, ping-pong, swimming, powerlifting and blind football) who trained and competed in inclusive sports facilities. There were five major themes that we identified: access to training facilities, access inside training facilities, access during matches and athletes’ expectations of training and competition facilities.

  • Life kinetik training to increase concentration and skills in playing football
Komarudin Komarudin, Patriana Nurmansyah Awwaludin, Yusuf Hidayat, Novrizal Achmad Novan
International Journal of Human Movement and Sports Sciences, 2021
This study examines the influence difference between Life Kinetik training and conventional training on increasing concentration and football playing skills. This exercise has not been widely applied in the training process to improve psychological abilities and football skills. The method used in this study is an experiment with 90 football athletes subject in one of the state universities in Indonesia. Through random selection subjects, 40 people were taken, and the random assignment of subjects was divided into two, namely the experimental and control groups of 20 people each. The instrument to measure concentration was used, the Concentration Grid Test (CGT), and the instrument to measure football playing skills, the Games Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI). This study uses a pretest-posttest control group design. The data analysis technique used the non-parametric Mann Whitney Test with SPSS version 21. The results showed significant differences in the effect of Life Kinetik training and conventional training on increasing concentration and football playing skills. Life Kinetik Training is better than conventional training for increasing concentration and soccer-playing skills. The authors would like to recommend coaches and athletes in the football to use Life Kinetik in the training process because it can improve athlete concentration and football playing skills.
