    E3s Web of Conferences, 2024
Indonesia as a tropical country has abundant potential of solar energy. The Indonesian government is very serious about implementing efforts towards net zero emissions which are continuously encouraged. Using solar energy is one of the solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions use of fossil fuels. One of the efforts made is to apply technology to replace the propulsion system of ships powered by fossil fuel engines to electricity from solar energy. This research takes the case of a conventional engine-powered “Sandek” fishing boat converted to a solar-powered electric motor in West Sulawesi. The aim is to compare the level of profit and return on investment before and after conventional motor ships are replaced with electric powered ships. The research method used is a descriptive method with investment parameters including NPV, IRR, and Payback Period. The results hopefully can be used as a reference for investment who will develop the transition from conventional motor boats to electric boats. The conclusions of this research can be used as a model for the sustainable use of electric fishing boats in Indonesia.

Transportation is the second largest emitter of CO2 in the world, accounting for 25% of total CO2 emissions. To achieve a zero-carbon shipping industry, Indonesia can use its high sun exposure to generate electrical energy by using solar cell technology, which converts solar energy into electrical power. To answer the challenge, this research will start with the site selection of electric and solar-powered shipyards. This research tries to solve the problem of selecting the best location for electric and solar-powered shipyards by using the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method. The purpose of this research is to get the optimal location of electric and solar shipyards using AHP-MOORA and AHP-ELECTRE methods. There are three alternative locations in the location selection. Alternatives 1 and 3 are in Paciran District, Lamongan Regency, East Java Province, and alternative 2 is in Serang Regency, Banten Province. Alternative site 1 has an area of 38 ha and is located in Sidokelar Village, Paciran Sub-district. Decision-makers determine the parameters that will be evaluated from each alternative location, such as slope, soil type, rainfall, and 18 other criteria. In determining the weighting of parameters, a method that has a consistency test is needed so that the weight results obtained are consistent and objective. The study result shows that alternative location 1 is the best location for the electric and solar-powered shipbuilding industry, the same conclusion using the AHP-MOORA Integration approach and the AHP weighting ELECTRE Integration approach.
  • The Development of Ship Recycling Facility Cluster in Indonesia

Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2023
With a number of 80.849 units ship operating in Indonesia, the Ministry of Transportation estimates that 29,944 units ship of those vessels have been in service for more than 20 years. Furthermore, recycling ships are necessary. Ship Recycling Facility (SRF) should be ecologically friendly following International Maritime Organization (IMO) policy under the Hong Kong International Convention. Docks, cranes, steel cutters, and warehousing are necessary. SRF facilities, along with ecologically suitable hazardous material treatment. If this facility became a cluster, it would operate more effectively. This study aims to provide a different area in Indonesia where a prospective SRF cluster could grow. This research uses Diamond Porter’s method to determine a country’s comparative economic advantage towards the SRF cluster in Alang City, Gujarat, India, which is the global leader in ship recycling. The factor conditions; related and supporting industries; demand conditions; and firm strategy, structure, and rivalry are all examined in this study. To accommodate ship owners, the SRF business, and the government in carrying out ship recycling, the results of this study are a reference for formulating specific regulations for the SRF cluster. This research found that Kamal and Bojonegara are viable for the SRF cluster.
  • Session Assessment of Seaplane Operations: The Case of Marine Tourism Development on Gili Iyang Island, Indonesia
    N Shabrina, D Arianto, K S Wardani, Z Qonita, A R Ispandiari, et al.
Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2023
The development of marine tourism in Indonesia aims to promote economic growth, enhance the well-being of the citizenry, and conserve the environment. Gili Iyang Island in East Java Province has the second highest oxygen concentration in the world and is a popular health tourism destination. The transportation industry plays a crucial role in facilitating access and connectivity between islands and other regions. Seaplanes are an alternative mode of transportation for reaching tourist destinations on small islands with limited land area that are surrounded by water. This study aims to determine the optimal conditions for reaching the island and the number of effective days for seaplane operations. In assessing seaplane operating factors, water conditions such as current speed (1), wind speed (2), waves height (3), and tides (4) have a significant impact. Therefore, seaplanes cannot effectively operate for an entire year. Using a comparative methodology, the characteristics of the seaplane mode of transportation in the waters of Gili Iyang will be examined to determine the optimal operational time. The results of the study indicate that the 19-seat seaplane can operate 258 days per year and recommend the use of air-sea transportation modes for the growth of tourism in Gili Iyang Island.
  • Development of Sustainable Infrastructure in Eastern Indonesia
Bakti Wibawa, Ibnu Fauzi, Dian A Novianti, Nurul Shabrina, Andika D Saputra, et al.
Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
The condition of limited infrastructure in Indonesia positions that current infrastructure is very important to be built immediately to support development in various fields so that economic, trade, industrial and other social activities run more smoothly and develop, so that the dynamics of society in all corners of the country will increase. The cost of producing electricity in Eastern Indonesia, such as Sulawesi, Papua, Maluku and Nusa Tenggara is currently 2 to 5 times the cost of producing electricity in Java, Bali and Sumatra. One of the ways that should be intensified is by building a small-scale Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure concept that aims to meet the needs of gas consumers who do not receive gas pipelines or who require small volumes of gas, for example small capacity power plants, especially those in islands in Eastern Indonesia. In this archipelago, it is impossible for all regions to be connected by pipelines that cross the oceans, because of course it requires very large funds. The application of small-scale LNG technology is the right solution for LNG supply in Eastern Indonesia. If the energy infrastructure is available, the quality of human resources must also be improved so that they become human resources who are always active and always adapt to developments.
