  • Experimental research of axlebox bearing faults in railway cars by means of optical analysis methods
Vasyl Ravlyuk, Yana Ivantsyk, Oksana Yatsko
Proceedings of SPIE the International Society for Optical Engineering, 2025
The study investigates methods of vibration diagnostics for axlebox bearings in rolling stock using spectral analysis and envelope vibration modulation. The critical importance of early fault detection for safe operation has been established. Fast Fourier Transform was employed for accurate identification of fault location and type. Vibration spectrum analysis established a correlation between fault frequencies and bearing geometry. An algorithm for automated monitoring has been proposed, main fault categories have been identified, and directions for further research have been outlined to enhance diagnostic capabilities.

  • Optical principles of analysis in modelling and optimization of brake lever gear components of railway cars
Mykola Ravliuk, Andrii Babenko, Yaroslav Derevianchuk, Pavlo Rukavishnykov, Vladyslav Bohutskyi, Oleksandr Pleskach, Oksana Yatsko
Proceedings of SPIE the International Society for Optical Engineering, 2025
This paper examines the improvement of the brake lever gear to enhance the efficiency and safety of railway transport. The performance of the brake system was evaluated using different types of brake pads (cast-iron and composite). It was found that composite brake pads exhibit considerable wear resistance, friction coefficient constancy, and reduced maintenance costs. In contrast, cast-iron pads show rapid wear and unstable friction behavior. The use of composite pads also reduces the load on the elements of the brake lever gear, leading to a lighter and simpler design while increasing overall reliability and operational safety. The strength of the brake lever gear components was analyzed using the finite element method, which enabled structural optimization of horizontal levers and tie rods, reducing their mass by up to 30%. Furthermore, the integration of modern rolled steel cutting technologies allows for the production of more complex components, contributing to improved design efficiency and lower manufacturing costs. The results confirm the relevance of optimizing the brake lever gear to improve the efficiency of the brake system and reduce operational expenses.
  • 3D modeling as a means of forming professional competencies of future optical engineers and vocational education teachers
    O. V. Derevyanchuk, N. M. Ridei, N. M. Tytova, O. M. Yatsko, M. G. Ivanchuk, V. V. Kovdrysh, H. O. Kravchenko
Proceedings of SPIE the International Society for Optical Engineering, 2025
The article examines the role of 3D modeling in the training of future optical engineers and vocational education teachers in the context of digitalization. Special emphasis is placed on the pedagogical and engineering potential of using regular star polyhedra as effective tools for developing informational-digital, design, and methodological competencies. The study highlights how three-dimensional geometric modeling contributes not only to mastering technical and engineering knowledge but also to fostering creativity, analytical skills, and interdisciplinary integration, which are essential for modern STEM-oriented education. The possibilities of applying specialized computer software for constructing and visualizing complex three-dimensional models are analyzed, with particular attention to the integration of STEM components into the educational process. The article also emphasizes the importance of linking mathematical, engineering, and optical principles with digital technologies, enabling future specialists to transform theoretical concepts into practical applications. As a practical example, the modeling of a small stellated dodecahedron in the AutoCAD environment is presented, demonstrating a step-by-step approach to creating a functional 3D object. This case study illustrates the educational and professional value of combining geometric construction with computer modeling, reinforcing both technical competencies and methodological skills necessary for the professional training of optical engineers and vocational education teachers. The research confirms that 3D modeling serves as an innovative pedagogical and engineering instrument that enhances the effectiveness of vocational and technical training in the era of digital transformation.
  • Implementation of the STEM project “modeling of spatial images of stellated Poyhedra” in the professional training of future vocational education teachers
Oleksandr Derevyanchuk, Nataliia Ridei, Nataliia Tytova, Vasyl Ravlyuk, Oksana Yatsko
Edelweiss Applied Science and Technology, 2025
In the context of rapid development of digital technologies and their integration into the educational process, the implementation of the STEM approach in teaching technical and natural sciences becomes particularly relevant. The combination of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics creates a powerful toolkit for developing practical skills and spatial thinking in future professional education teachers. Three-dimensional modeling of geometric figures is a prime example of an interdisciplinary approach, where mathematical concepts are implemented in a digital environment using modern technologies. For future professional education teachers, such an approach is particularly important as it allows them to develop technical skills and methodological competencies simultaneously. The article examines the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of implementing the STEM approach in the process of learning 3D modeling using the graphic editor AutoCad, as well as investigates the impact of this approach on the development of professional competencies of future specialists.

Proceedings of SPIE the International Society for Optical Engineering, 2024
An intelligent web portal for analysing and forecasting the exchange rate of commodity money has been developed. The result of this research is a comprehensive system that allows for the analysis of the commodity money market, including price forecasting and risk assessment. The study identified the prophet method for predicting the exchange rate of a commodity unit and the monte carlo method for predicting the value of an investment portfolio with various assets. These methods allow us to reliably determine future trends based on the analysis of available data. To implement the web portal, we used the streamlit framework, which allows us to quickly develop interactive web applications using machine learning and data analysis tools. The scikit-learn library was used to work with machine learning, which has a wide range of tools for applying classical machine learning methods. The yfinance library was also used to retrieve financial data from the Yahoo Finance web service.

Proceedings of SPIE the International Society for Optical Engineering, 2020
This paper contains data of experimental studies of the coordinate structure of phase shift distributions between orthogonal polarization states of laser images of blood samples of preoperative (group A), postoperative (group B), postoperative with a course of chemotherapy (group C) cancer patients registered for different spectral ("red"λ1=0,632μm and "blue"λ2=0,414μm) ranges. Two-dimensional distributions of phase shifts between orthogonal polarization states of the “red” and “blue” laser images of cancer patients in groups A, B, and C are presented and analyzed. According to this results, phase criteria for the differentiation of laser images of unoperated, operated and operated patients with chemotherapy were established. Samples of the topological structure of phase shift distributions between orthogonal polarization states of laser images of blood samples of three groups of cancer patients were studied, and the patterns of their coordinate and spatial-frequency construction were established. According to this, the self-similarity of phase distributions (at different levels of their stationary values) of laser radiation in polarization images of blood samples of patients of A, B and C groups was studied.
