Effect of vitamin B2 interactions on the optical properties of cadmium selenide quantum dots: experimental and theoretical analysis Divyesh Chaudhari, Sahajkumar A. Gandhi, Pinkeshkumar G. Sutariya, Krushna Baraiya Spectroscopy Letters, 2026 Water-soluble cadmium selenide quantum dots (CdSe Qdots) were synthesized using thioglycolic acid (TGA) as a stabilizer in aqueous media and exhibited strong photoluminescence, enabling the detection and quantification of vitamin B2. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements confirmed particle sizes below 10 nm with low polydispersity, while TEM and AFM analyses supported the Qdots morphology and size. UV–Vis spectroscopy revealed a blue-shifted absorption peak relative to bulk CdSe, with an estimated optical band gap of 2.41 eV. The high negative zeta potential (−73.9 mV) indicated successful surface functionalization with TGA, providing colloidal stability via electrostatic repulsion. The fluorescence response of the CdSe Qdots showed a linear correlation with vitamin B2 concentration in the range of 1–11 mg L−1, with a detection limit of 4.11 mg L−1. Complementary density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to examine the HOMO–LUMO energy levels of Cd6Se6-TGA alone and in combination with vitamin B2, providing insights into their electronic interactions and binding behavior.
Room-Temperature Accessible Stereospecific Synthesis of Methyl-(Z)-2-(7-methyl-3-oxo-5H-thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-2(3H)-ylidene)acetates:Cd2+ Fluorescence Probe and DU145 Cell Study Mehul P. Patel Chempluschem, 2025 Stereospecific synthesis of Methyl‐(Z)‐2‐(7‐methyl‐3‐oxo‐5H‐thiazolo[3,2‐a]pyrimidin‐2(3H)‐ylidene)acetates 3(a–t) is designed and explored their application as fluorescent probes for Cd2+ ions for the first time. These analogs are synthesized via one‐pot reaction of (R/S)‐2‐thioxo‐3,4‐dihydropyrimidine‐5‐carboxanilides (TDHPM‐5‐carboxanilides) with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in MeOH (methanol) as a reusable green solvent at room temperature (RT). Two new C(sp2)N, C(sp2)S sigma bonds, and one new C‐N π‐bond are formed during this transformation, achieving yields of up to 99%. This protocol demonstrates a low environmental factor (E‐factor) (0.09 to 0.35), high atom economy (94.83%), and carbon efficiency (142.68%), reflecting a significant advancement in green chemistry. Compound 3a is synthesized in 99% yield on a gram scale. Compound 3p proves to be an excellent fluorescent probe for Cd2+ ions, showing a ninefold increase in fluorescence intensity. The limit of detection and limit of quantification for 3p with Cd2+ ions are 7.5 and 25 μM, respectively, with an R2 value of 0.9903. Density functional theory calculations revealed that Cd2+ ions bind effectively in the cavity of 3p through a ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer mechanism. Cell viability assays and docking studies show that compounds 3g, 3h, 3p, and 3t exhibited potent activity against the DU145 prostate cancer cell line, with binding affinities of −7.7, −6.8, −8.1, and −7.5 kcal mol−1.
Unveiling Interference-Free Acridine-Calix[4]Arene-Based Fluorescence paper and Electrochemical Sensor for Cyanazine from Agricultural Produces Heni Soni, Malvika Shukla, Divyesh Chaudhari, Sahaj Gandhi, Alok Pandya, Pinkesh G. Sutariya Analysis and Sensing, 2025 The construction of fluorescence sensor L1 for cyanazine (CNZ) by using calix[4]arene scaffold allied with 9‐Aminoacridine moiety has been reported. The recognized triazine herbicide CNZ decreased the fluorescence intensity of L1 by exhibiting “turn‐off” phenomenon having detection limit to be 7.79 μM obtained from emission study. The quenching response of L1: CNZ was observed between the range of 5–105 μM possessing binding constant calculated to be 9.201×106 M−1. The spiking experiment of CNZ into L1 has also been performed to evaluate potency of L1 using vegetables and cereals. Also, a paper‐based device has been prepared in order to implement this strategy for on‐spot monitoring of CNZ. The L1:CNZ binding has been confirmed by conducting electrochemical studies like cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, 1H NMR, FT‐IR, MALDI‐TOF, 1H NMR titration, PXRD investigation and computational analysis.
