  • Vibration-Based Predictive Maintenance for Motors Using Edge AI
    BHAVENTHAN R, DANIEL STANLYRAJ X, S. PURUSHOTHAMAN
2026 International Conference on Recent Advances in Electrical Electronics Ubiquitous Communication and Computational Intelligence Raeeucci 2026, 2026
The proposed work aims to minimize unplanned downtime and maintenance costs by implementing a vibrationbased predictive maintenance system for motor fault diagnosis. A Brushless DC (BLDC) motor integrated with a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and an ADXL345 tri-axial accelerometer is employed for real-time vibration data acquisition at different operating speeds 1000, 1500, and 2000 RPM using an electronic speed controller. The acquired vibration signals are locally processed on the edge device, where a one-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network model classifies motor health conditions including normal operation, imbalance, misalignment, and bearing wear. Unlike conventional TinyML-based approaches that primarily focus on binary fault detection, the proposed system performs multi-class fault identification, enabling more precise condition monitoring. The diagnostic results are displayed on an OLED interface, facilitating rapid decisionmaking and real-time monitoring. The edge-based implementation reduces latency, bandwidth dependency, and reliance on cloud infrastructure, making the system suitable for practical industrial predictive maintenance applications.
  • Optimized IDS Using AI and Feature Ranking Fusion for Enhanced Threat Detection
    S. Purushothaman, Suhashini A, Vaishaly Bopaiah G, Ankita Thakur, K. Anandhi, Sanjay Bhatnagar
Proceedings 2025 IEEE 1st International Conference on Smart Innovations in Systems Infrastructure Mechanical Power AI and Computing Technologies Sisimpact 2025, 2025
This research presents a new and improved IDS (Intrusion Detection System) that customs artificial intelligence and a unique amalgamation of six feature ranking approaches–MI (Mutual Information), PI (Permutation Importance), RFI (Random Forest Importance), SFI (SHAP Feature Importance), Difference between Mean and Median (DMM) and Standard Deviation (SD). It chooses the best 7 to 9 features from each of the datasets NSL-KDD, UNSW-NB15 and CIC-IDS2017. This issue of imbalance was handled using ADASYN oversampling which improved how many minority class images there were. Experiments were performed using XGBM, SVM, DT, LR and ET machine learning classifiers. NSL-KDD performed with accuracy 99.86%, UNSW-NB15 managed 92.42% and CICIDS2017 earned 99.68%. Precision, recall and F1-Score were all greater than 99% when dealing with a balanced set of data. Fusion achieved better accuracy and was much faster to train when compared to traditional techniques such as PCA, IG and PCC. This affirms that by combining multiple ranking approaches, detection accuracy and efficiency can be maintained using less important features which supports a flexible, intelligent IDS system.
  • Advanced IoT Intrusion Detection for Intelligent Homes using Optimized Cross-Contextual Transformers with a Dynamic City Game Framework

Ensuring data security against unauthorized access in smart homes is crucial, but implementing deep learning methods can be challenging due to potential issues such as accuracy loss, time complexity, and increased error rates. This study introduces a novel approach to address these challenges: the Securing Intelligent Home with a Transformer-Based IoT Intrusion Detection System (IDS) using an Optimized Cross-Contextual Point Running City Game Transformer Network (O2CPRCG-TransNet). This innovative method leverages advanced DL approaches to improve the security and reliability of Intelligent home environments. The study utilizes the IoT_bot dataset, which is pre-processed using the Grid-Constrained Data Purification Method (GCDP) to ensure high-quality input. The purified data is then optimized through the Giant Trevally Optimizer Algorithm (GTOA), which selects the most significant features to improve classification performance. Classification is performed using the O2CPRCG-TransNet architecture, which is specifically designed to address the complexities of Intelligent home security. To ensure secure data transmission, the system incorporates Somewhat Homomorphic Fuzzy-based Elliptic Curve Cryptography (SWH-FECC). Experimental results, obtained using the Python platform, demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves superior performance, with an accuracy of 98% and a recall of 0.993, compared to existing methods. These findings underscore the effectiveness of the proposed method and its potential for broader application in enhancing Intelligent home security.

A novel approach converts nanoscale mechanical energy into electric energy for selfpowering nanodevices that operate independently by itself without external battery for power supply requires only a power range of only ìW to mW. In this work, piezoelectric p-type zinc-oxide nanowire (Sb doped ZnO NW) arrays were used to demonstrate this new approach of converting nanoscale mechanical energy like body motion, tiny mechanical vibration/disturbance etc., into electric energy. The nanogenerator (NG) using the piezoelectric effect of ZnO nanowires applies to tolerate the variable environment. In the design reported here, a piezoelectric ZnO nanowires on a flexible (Teflon) substrate and was fixed to electrodes at both surfaces. Periodically bending and releasing the substrate piezoelectric ZnO nanowires with therefore generates an alternating current, and has a number of advantages in terms of stability, robustness, cost, manufacturability and its ability to work in fluid and under harsh conditions. Here, the fundamental principle behind the nanogenerator was reviewed, and an approach for improving its performance was presented. We have implemented a simple, well controlled aqueous solution based doping strategy for synthesis of single crystalline Sb-ZnO nanowires rather using any other conventional, expensive vapourphase synthesis methods. The Sb doping concentration was studied with ICP-OES. The morphology and structural characterizations of the Sb-ZnO NWs were performed by SEM. The crystal structure and the functional group study were done using XRD and FTIR spectroscopy. A semi conductorconfirmatory low temperature PL study of Sb doped nanowires was also carried out.
