Novel control of PV-wind-battery powered standalone power supply system based LSTM based ANN Yerragolla Hazarathaiah, B. Venkata Rami Reddy International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2024 Integrated wind-photovoltaic (PV) based standalone electric power supply systems are widely used for various applications. A battery storage system is needed to provide continuous power supply to loads despite changes in loads, wind speed, and solar irradiance. Power quality is crucial in these hybrid systems, as the battery needs to charge from surplus power when generation exceeds the load and discharge to meet load demand. A bidirectional DC to DC converter is used to connect the battery to the network, and maximum power point tracking devices with proper algorithms are incorporated for optimal utilization of PV and wind turbines. Multiple PV systems and wind turbines are considered for proper power supply system ratings. Long short-term memory (LSTM) based artificial neural network (ANN) controllers are implemented for various control units in the hybrid standalone power system. The proposed control techniques improve power quality under various situations. Results are presented using MATLAB/Simulink to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.
Takagi-Sugeno-Kang Fuzzy Controllers for Single Stage Grid Connected PV System Y Hazarathaiah, B V Rami Reddy Proceedings of 2022 1st IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics Developments and Applications Icidea 2022, 2022 Grid connected solar power plants are widely established in many places worldwide. Photovoltaic (PV) based grid connected solar plants are attracting recently due to improved in controlling of power converters. Single stage grid connected systems can reduce number of converters connected in power plants which resultant in reduce cost of the system. However, DC to DC converters are generally used in PV systems to enhance the operation of maximum power point for best utilization. The inverters also can be using to extract maximum power from PV systems through new controlling techniques in power electronics devises. Therefore an extra DC to DC converter is not required to make PV at its maximum power point condition. However, this technology can be used for small scale solar power plants since all PV arrays in solar power plant cannot be received same irradiance. Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy controller is having significant priority than proportional plus integral controllers when rapid changes are having in input. Hence, TSK based single stage controller is developed in this paper for grid connected 1MW solar plant. Generally distribution system is connected with unbalanced loads, hence these unbalanced loads will create forcefully unbalanced currents in electrical grid. Unbalanced grid currents further create many problems to other loads. Therefore, the proposed controller is designed to help making grid currents balanced during unbalanced local loads. Further, the inverter can compensate reactive power demanded by local loads to minimize reactive power supplied by grid. On the OPAL-RT platform, extensive data are provided and assessed in order to improve the performance of the proposed controller for a 1MW grid-connected solar plant.
Optimal placement of interline power flow controller (IPFC) to enhance voltage stability B.V. Rami Reddy, Y.V. Siva Reddy, P. Sujatha 2015 Conference on Power Control Communication and Computational Technologies for Sustainable Growth Pccctsg 2015, 2016 In this paper, the combination of fuzzy logic controller and genetic algorithm are proposed. A fuzzy control system is a control system based on fuzzy logic a mathematical system that analyzes analog input values in terms of logical variables. The purpose of fuzzy system is to determine the capacity of interline power flow controller (IPFC) in terms of voltage deviation. The optimal location of IPFC is done by genetic algorithm (GA), which generates solutions to optimization problems using techniques inspired by natural evolution, such as inheritance, mutation, selection, and crossover. The proposed technique maintains the voltage stability and minimizes the transmission loss of the transmission system. For analyzing the nonlinear power flow of the transmission system, Newton Raphson method is utilized. The proposed technique is implemented in MATLAB working platform and its performance is tested with IEEE 30 bus system.
Interline power flow controller (IPFC) to improve the voltage stability and contingency analysis in power system B. V. Rami Reddy, P. Sujatha, Y. V. Siva Reddy International Review of Electrical Engineering, 2016 The latest flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) device, known as interline power flow controller (IPFC), is the most versatile device used for controlling power flows in multiple transmission lines. When the load on the transmission line is drastically increased the power losses and voltage deviation increase in the system leading to line outages and power system network may become unstable. An algorithm for the IPFC optimal location is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm improves voltage stability under the over loaded line outage contingency in a power system network. The transmission line outages are calculated and ranked on the basis of their performance index. The proposed method is tested for IEEE-30 bus system by using MATLab software and the results are compared with SVC device for the same configuration of the network.
