Mujeres Magazine as a Classifying Space of the Performativities of Being a Woman in Cuba Luis Alberto Fernández-Silva, Oscar Ulloa-Guerra, Andresa Sartor-Harada, Ricel Martínez-Sierra Journalism Practice, 2025 This article analyzes the journalistic discourse of the Cuban magazine Mujeres between the years 2010–2015, by questioning its thematic agenda as a dynamic resource for meanings. The main objective of the study is to understand the singular knowledge produced about the experience of women in the economic spheres in Cuba. For this, the qualitative research crosses the meanings produced about the participation of Cuban women by journalistic narratives with the specific characteristics of the productive scenarios where they act, thus revealing how Mujeres promotes particular readings of those contexts and their subjects. The asymmetry in the visualization between the state and non-state economic spheres, the politicization of women's roles in non-state productive scenarios and the disregard of other forms of participation of Cuban women, are among the main results achieved. These limits of the constructed meanings allow us to understand how the journalism of the magazine operates as a classifying device of being a woman in Cuba.
Adaptation to Brazilian Portuguese and Latin-American Spanish and psychometric properties of the Mental Illness Clinicians’ Attitudes Scale (MICA v4) Angel O. Rojas Vistorte, Wagner Ribeiro, Carolina Ziebold, Elson Asevedo, Sara Evans-Lacko, Denisse Jaen Varas, Nataly Gutierrez, Michel Haddad, Oscar Ulloa, Ricel Martínez, Andresa Sartor Harada, Jair de Jesus Mari Trends in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, 2023 Objective To describe translation to Spanish and Portuguese and adaptation of the Mental Illness Clinicians’ Attitudes Scale version 4 (MICA v4). Methods The questionnaire was administered to primary care physicians (PCPs) from four Latin-American countries, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, and Cuba. The validation process included four phases: 1) translation of the questionnaire to Spanish and Portuguese; 2) assessment of face validity; 3) assessment of reliability; and 4) evaluation of construct validity with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results The study sample comprised 427 PCPs. The mean age of the Spanish-speaking sample (n = 252) was 40.1 (S.D = 9.7) years and the mean age of the Portuguese-speaking sample (n = 150) was 40.2 (S.D = 10.9) years. Both models demonstrated “appropriate” internal reliability. Total omega was 0.91 for the Spanish-speaking sample and 0.89 for the Portuguese-speaking sample. The CFA of both questionnaires showed an appropriate fit for a three-factor model (Portuguese: CFI = 0.927; TLI = 0.913; RMSEA = 0.066; Spanish: CFI = 0.945; TLI = 0.935; RMSEA = 0.068). Conclusion The Latin-American versions of the MICA v4 in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese have appropriate psychometric properties, good internal consistency, and are applicable to and acceptable in the Latin-American context. The instrument proved its validity for collecting data on stigmatizing attitudes among health professionals in different contexts and cultures.
The dual vocational training in the Law Field from teachers and students’ perspectives: Constraints and success keys in a Cuban university Jorge Luis Silva González, Oscar Ulloa Guerra, Ricel Martínez Sierra, Andresa Sartor Harada Revista Pedagogia Universitaria Y Didactica Del Derecho, 2022 La formación profesional dual de los estudiantes de Derecho se inserta desde el curso escolar 2018-2019 en Cuba. Desde entonces ha constituido una prioridad en la política de Educación Superior, que se manifiesta en las diferentes instituciones que conforman el sector jurídico. En tal sentido, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo valorar, desde una perspectiva teórica, legal y práctica, el desarrollo del proceso de formación dual de los estudiantes de la carrera de Derecho en Cuba, a partir de la experiencia de la provincia de Pinar del Río. Para ello, con el empleo de los métodos análisis-síntesis, inducción-deducción y revisión bibliográfica se sistematizan los referentes teórico-conceptuales sobre la formación del profesional, con énfasis en la formación dual, se analizan las normas jurídicas que sustentan dicha formación mediante el contrato de trabajo por tiempo determinado y se exponen resultados a partir de entrevistas realizadas a docentes y estudiantes que han estado implicados directamente con la experiencia.
